RX 24 - Leveraging Data To Better Lead People To Be Generous - Rodney Ross

Welcome everybody to the first session of day one of Rx twenty four. I'd like to welcome Rodney Ross from Life Church to the stage for his presentation. All right. Good morning. I am excited to share some thoughts with you today around generosity. Generosity gets me excited. I hope it gets you excited as well. A couple things to know about me again. If we haven't met, my name is Rodney Ross. I get to work with giving and generosity at Life Church. We are one church with multiple locations, and part of my role is getting to leverage data to equip our pastors to educate, equip, and empower those who lead people to be irrationally generous. And so I'm excited to just share some things that we're doing today. Something else you ought to know about me is anybody familiar with Myers Briggs and personality type? Yes. Okay. So I'm an ENFP and a very stereotypical ENFP. And and what that means, for any of you that don't know Myers Briggs, there is no telling where this thing's going to go today, but we are probably going to have some fun while we get there. So we're going to do that. Something else about today's presentation is I actually leveraged AI to help me put it together. And I kind of went in with the expectation that it was going to make it quicker for me and it was going to make it even better. And that wasn't exactly my experience. This actually took probably longer than most presentations I've done leveraging AI, but I'm gonna let you guys see if you can figure out why it took me longer than it might otherwise have. So with that, here is our agenda for today, if that sounds good. We've just working on the welcome and intro. We're gonna talk a little bit about why data matters, how it tells a story, and then really helping connect data to people. Then we're gonna talk about what is great data. And then we're gonna if it's okay with you guys, I'd love to share four different examples, just real practical examples of how we're leveraging data to pastor people well in the area of generosity. Does that sound like a good plan? Anybody want to add anything? I'm super adaptable. Typically, NFP. If anybody wants to see we're good. Okay. Okay. We'll call this the agenda then for our time. So this is the welcome and intro slide that AI generated. And it kind of makes me feel welcomed. Okay. I like the handshake, so we're doing good so far. So why does data matter? Well, data can tell a story. I didn't grow up a data guy. As a matter of fact, my younger football playing self would probably have a lot of thoughts about me being a lover of data these days. But, you know, data can show us where we're at. It can give us a reality check of, hey, what's happening today? It can also help us see where we might want to go. And then the other thing that I've learned over the years from from data is a lot of times God draws our attention to something he's doing through data. And sometimes it's that data point that you can't explain. Maybe you see something in the data and you're like, oh, wow. That that number looks amazing. Hey, what do we do in that space? What did we do? And I didn't do anything. Did you do anything? No. Oh man, this must be God. Okay, let's bring some resources to this because clearly something is happening in this space. So that's kind of what I think about when I think about why data matters. And so the other thing that's just a reminder, this is a self check for me, and I love this phrase. And it's behind every number is a person. Every person has a story, and every story matters to God. I I absolutely love that phrase. It's such a good centering point for me as I think about data. What I don't particularly care for is the image that came up here. So, you know, the first thing that comes to mind, that's a little bit dark. You know? I I I don't particularly like dark slides. I'm also recognizing, hey, is we're at a technology conference and the image it shows is a book. And while that was amazing technology at one point, it's not the latest technology today. So what I did, I decided, hey, let's go to chat GPT. And I asked it to say, hey, give me an image of a person behind a number. Okay? So kind of picture what you would generate, you personally would generate, if if you made that request. Here's what I got. Anybody picture that in your own mind? That's not exactly what I had pictured. And you know, I was like, Okay, okay, that's something. But you know, the number sign is kind of broken. And the more I looked at it, was like, woah, wait. Where's this dude's body? I'm not sure I like that. So I asked it to try again. So I got this one. And I'm like, oh, okay. Well, it's a little bit wait. That's an h. Where's the number sign? So I asked it to try again. Man, this guy is super excited. And I've I've kinda noticed that that the more I do this, the more excited the the person is getting about this. And I'm like, okay. That's bringing some energy. I like that. And and we've got a number sign. So this is good. But, you know, wouldn't didn't feel quite right. So I asked him to try again. That's what I got. I got a cartoon. I don't know how I feel about a cartoon, and we're back to the H. We had the number sign figured out last slide. And so, you know, then it's at this point that I realize you know, I'm really thinking again about, oh, wait, technology conference? Okay. Give me an image, you know, that has a tech vibe to it. So that's what we got. You know, and I can kind of see it a little bit. We got the at sign. You know, we've we've got the hashtags. We've got the the young person flashing gang signs of some sort. And naturally, that's that's technology in my mind. And then, you know, of course it struck me, wait, this isn't just a technology conference. This is a church technology conference. So I said, hey, would you add a church vibe? Come on, we've got a church vibe going on right there. At this point in the journey anybody figured out why this took me longer than most presentations? Okay, you guys get it. So at this point, I realized, oh, man. I only asked for part of the phrase. I only asked it to generate an image of a person behind the number. So I said, okay. How about the whole phrase? You guys you guys remember it? You know, behind every number is a person. Every person has a story. Every story matters to god. So just take a moment here and picture what you think would come out or or what you would do to create an image that represents that phrase. Okay? Let's just take a moment there. And let me just ask you, was this it? This is the image it generated. And and what, you know, what we learned from this slide is behind every per con is a person. And every person has a story. And that must be important because we say it again. Every person has a story. Every story matters to God. And, you know, I was kinda like, nah. It doesn't really hit the mark. But the more I started looking at this image, the the it it got really creepy really quick. So, like, I don't even know what the what the symbols and numbers are there. You know? And and I I'm guessing that's Jesus kinda floating there in the middle, but it looks like some kinda laser beam coming down. You know? So I'm not sure what that is about. But then I started noticing a couple of other weird things. And I don't know if you guys noticed, but check out the guy in the cowboy hat right over there. Anybody notice anything unusual? Dude's got three arms. Three arms right there. Two behind his back and one holding a briefcase. And then then I noticed the I don't know. Then I noticed the the lady standing just next to potential Jesus there. She's turned the wrong way. You know? But I'm she's not just turned the wrong way. Her top half is facing one way. Her bottom half is that she is turned the wrong way. That like, that's legit creepy. And then then I then I noticed that what to her left, what I can only picture is is a mom and daughter. I think mom's ripped off daughter's hand. Daughter has no hand, and it just it just got creepier and creepier. So I'm one of those guys that when I think about AI, I've seen the Terminator movies. I know what happens. I know how this plays out. Okay? AI is gonna win. We're we're all in real trouble. But when I see images like this, I feel like, okay, we're not there yet. We we we've got some time. So I was that reminded me of the image that comes with every chat GPT message. Hey. Chat GPT can make mistakes. And I'm like, okay. Yeah. That all that all kinda comes together on what we would have gotten some of the images. Check important info. So I was laughing with my wife about this process. She knew I was spending a stupid amount of time generating images. But I was just talking to her about that and she made a really interesting observation. She said, You know, working with data can be a lot like the experience you just had with chat GPT. If we you know, if we're just working letting the the data be what it is without inviting God into the process, without applying that you know, someone personally working through the Holy Spirit, we might get to something that's not just quite right. And I thought that was really intelligent. So this is this is again why data matters, and I just wanted to add, but oh, excuse me, but only when we invite God into the process. And so do you guys mind if we just take a moment and invite God into the rest of this process? Alright. God, we just come to you and are so thankful that you are our God, that you care about us, that you care about the people you've entrusted us with more than we do. And, Lord, we just ask that you work through this time and through your Holy Spirit, connect all of us. And, Lord, I just pray that the things that are from you stick and and are remembered. And the things that aren't from you, Lord, just let that those be forgotten and never thought of again. And so bless our time together and and just use this time as you would. In Jesus' name, amen. Alright. Thank you, guys. Alright. That was fun. How many people expected that when you saw the title of the session? I didn't Matt okay. Yeah. Yeah. We we one of my one of my coworkers did. Okay. So what is great data? So great data I love this simple definition, data that leads to both greater understanding and action. Because if you think about it, man, what if we see some data and we really understand it and and we're a lot wiser because of it, but then nothing happens? That's that's not necessarily great data. It's interesting data, but it's not necessarily great. So I say it like this and legit, I say this all the time. I like interesting data, but I love actionable data. So for the the rest of our time, what I'd love to do is just show you some ways we pull together different data points and how we use it to lead to action. So this first one is one that we call the deep data dive. And it's a little bit ironic because what we really try to do with this visualization is make a lot of complex data really simple. So we only picked seven data points, and we tried to pick the seven that we care about. And we looked at total giving there at the top left. The the second row, AWA, is short for average weekly attendance. So we wanted to know the total giving. We wanted to know average attendance. The next thing we looked at is giving households. And I think about that as, hey. How many people are giving? And then we calculated giving per household. And I think about that as, okay, how much are people giving? Then we went down to giving per person, and that's a calculation that literally takes total attendance or total giving and divides it by total attendance to get a giving per attender number, giving per person. And then one thing I've learned is that large gifts can really impact the story that the data is telling. So we wanted to be able to identify, hey, what are large gifts and what impact are they having on the data? So we picked large gifts and then like most of you I'm sure, we care about recurring giving. Who are those folks that have committed to give on a regular basis automatically, whether it's bad weather, whether it's vacation season, whether the power goes out at one of your buildings, you know, you know that giving is coming in. So those were the data points we chose. And then what we did is we put current year at the far right and we compared it to the prior two years through the same time period. And we did that because we know that there are some things that are seasonal. And so think end of year giving is typically a higher giving moment. Think about Easter weekend. That tends to be a higher giving weekend. And so we wanted to compare try to fairly compare the years over time. So that's what we did, and we put this visual together. And our audience for this visual was our campus pastors. And so when you think about a campus pastor, what do you think about as far as a skill set that you're looking for in a in that role? What are some things you think about? If you were gonna hire a pastor, what are you looking for? Relational. Absolutely. Yes. Good presenter. Yes. Excellent speaking skills. Great communication skills. Yeah. That's right. Nobody probably thought data. And so as we're building this visual, we've got an audience in mind. Hey. We don't wanna take them out of their calling, out of God's calling, and and force them to be data people. We wanna try to put things together in a really simple way, and that's why we put it in just seven just seven data points. And they already care about a lot of these numbers, so they care about attendance. They care about how many people are giving. And so we connected data with what they were already passionate about. And so let me just walk you through how I would coach a campus pastor to leverage this data. So the the place that we probably always start, which is really natural anytime we're looking at at at giving numbers, we always kinda wanna know, hey. What's total giving? So that's where I start. I start up at the top right, and I just look at, hey. What's what's happening with giving? Okay. Giving's up 3%. Why why is that? Well, I look down at giving households, and I see which is how many people are giving, and I say, okay. Giving households are up 4%. Okay. That makes sense. We've got more people giving. Of course, we would expect giving to go up. But those numbers are a little off. I wonder what else is going on. So that's when we go to the next line, which is the giving per household, and we notice, okay. Giving per household is a little bit down this year compared to the same time period that last year. And so kind of the story that starts to reveal itself is, hey. Giving is up because we have more people giving, but on average, they're giving just a little bit less. And so that kinda gives us a sense for where we're at. And then we look at large gifts, and they're they're flat. We look at recurring giving, and it's up 8%. That's great. And that kind of affirms that some of the things we've been doing, which is encouraging our campus pastors to talk about recurring giving more, hey, those things are working. So that's just a quick overview of how we look at the data. But here's where the strategy comes in. Because we don't want this to just be interesting data. We want those campus pastors to take action based on it. So here's the next level of processing that I'll that I'll do with our our pastors. Say, you know, our strategy for growing generosity is is three parts, and it's we wanna bring in new givers. So we wanna invite more people to give. We want to grow our existing givers toward the tithe and toward irrational generosity. Makes sense. We we would love for people to be giving more because we know how important that is to their spiritual journey. And then the third part is we wanna retain them over time. So our strategy is super simple. It's bring in, grow, retain. So what what I do with our campus pastors is I take this dashboard, and I teach them how to leverage this to know which season they are in. And that's primarily gonna be either bring in or grow because we wanna be doing retention things all the time. We wanna always make make givers feel valued and cared for. So in this data, what we'll do is we'll start with average weekly attendance. And I'll say, like like just for this particular one, if I'm talking to a campus pastor, hey, attendance is up 12%. That's awesome. But something I noticed is that giving households only grew by 4%. So what that tells us, we have a lot of new people that are attending that haven't started giving yet. You are probably in a bring in season. And so the actions that you can then take are focused like during the offering call on the weekend, for example, you can change your language to really focus on inviting people that haven't started giving to take that first step. So rather than doing a lot of teaching on the tithe or trying to grow people, you we're gonna we're gonna talk more about, hey, some of you have never taken that step to put God first in your finances. And I wanna challenge you. Take that step today. Give something, and then look for look to see what God does over the next couple of weeks. And so just something like that is really targeting that bring in, and it's data driven. It's not just and because what I found is before we brought this type of data, what our campus pastors were challenged with is, hey, grow giving. And they're they're sitting around there looking like, okay. I'll I'll try to grow giving, you know, but with any without any practical steps. So by taking data and leveraging it in this way, helping them think about data the way we need them to, they're able to recognize, okay, when attendance grows faster than giving households, we're in a bring in season, I know what to do. I'm gonna shift my language. So that's an example. And then for a grow season, what we would typically see is as those numbers between the growth rate of giving households and average weekly attendance, as those get closer together, that's the data signal to start shifting into a growth season because you brought a lot of new giving households in. People are now giving. Now it's time to grow them toward the tithe and toward irrational generosity in our church's language. And so that's a data signal that would trigger the grow season. So that's kind of a high level one that we share with our campus pastors to help them understand what season we're in and what action or what focus should they be bringing to generosity communication. Is that all track? Any any questions about that? Alright. So this may be my favorite tactical dashboard that we've ever built. And what this data is doing is it starts and I should have mentioned before, the the data source for most of this is Rock. So it's gonna be the the transactional data, the giving data in Rock. We've got a couple other pieces, like we track attendance somewhere else, so we bring that attendance piece in. But almost all of the data you're gonna see is coming from our Rock databases. So what this is doing is it's looking at every volunteer who has checked in to serve over the last ninety days. And then it just asks the question, hey. Is anyone in their household given anything over the last thirteen months? And if they if they gave something in a particular month, there's a green check mark. If they did not, it's a it's a gray x. And we've we've built this where we can filter it by by campus and by ministry that they checked into within that campus. So, for example, this is our West Palm Beach campus. You can filter it to LifeKids and the LifeKids pastor can see everybody that checked into their ministry and just whether or not they gave in anyone in their household has given anything and this is part of I know giving data can be really sensitive And so you'll notice there's no dollar amounts on here. And the reason is it's not about the money. And so here's how we would coach our our teams to leverage this data. So the first thing would be, hey. Do a pass just really quickly. Just Just scroll through all of the folks here. And what may have been obvious, but I want to make sure, the gray box is actually where you would have people's names. And so we went ahead and grayed those out, obviously, because we're sharing this very publicly. But that that you'd have their names there. And when you click on the name, it takes them to their profile in in Rock. So it's a really cool feature. But just your your first pass at this dashboard, scan through, and just get a sense for where you are as a ministry. Do you have a lot of people that have never given anything? If you see that, maybe that's something you wanna think about incorporating some bring in components into your ministry. So in in our ministries, probably like a lot of yours, we have huddles with our volunteers before they serve every weekend. So we would encourage if you see a lot of people that have never given anything, work into huddles, work in some bring in language, and just invite people to take the next step of generosity. And so that's the first pass. The the second pass is probably my favorite one, and this is look for changes in behavior. Because what you may see is you may see somebody that has been giving very consistently, and all of a sudden they've stopped. That is a great opportunity to reach out and say, hey. This is Rodney at Life Church. I saw you stopped giving. No. That that's probably a chat GPT type response. That is not what we wanna do. So the the the conversation is actually this. Hey. This is Rodney at Life Church, and I just wanted to check-in with you. Is there anything we can be praying for you about? And it is amazing how many times when somebody has stopped giving that something significant has gone in their life on in their life. And it is it provides this amazing opportunity for us to come alongside them and be their church. And I can't tell you how many stories we get back that that go something like this. I cannot believe that you just called me. Here is something going we my my wife and I were literally processing this just in tears, and and you called. It is amazing how God will do that and make those connections. And and the other change in behavior is is actually the opposite. So what you may see is somebody's not giving, so lots of x's, and then suddenly they start giving. That is a fantastic opportunity to reach out and just say something like, hey, this is Rodney at Life Church. I just wanted to connect with you. Man, what is God doing in your life? It is amazing how many times when somebody starts giving that God is doing something pretty cool in their life. And what an amazing opportunity to come alongside them and be the church. And that is just extraordinary. It just creates those extraordinary moments. And why I love this dashboard is because it's not about the money. It's about leveraging giving data to care for people well. And here's what we know is if people are connected and they feel cared for, they are going to give. And what we've seen is as we've engaged with this dashboard, we see so many people that we've reached out to start to give again if they had lapsed. Or those that we've reached out to to celebrate them starting giving, they continue giving, which is fantastic. And so this is a very practical, pastoral way to connect with people that grows generosity toward our church without ever talking about money. And it's because we're just caring for people. We're doing we're we're we're asking pastors who this dashboard is for to do what god called them to do. We're not asking them to be fundraisers. We're not asking them to to talk people into into financial transactions. We're just helping them encourage and lead people to take their next step in their spiritual journey. So that's why it's one of my favorites. The only other thing I'd mention is the the bars across the top. That keeps track across the board. Hey, what percentage of your volunteers that check-in every every week or or month, I'm sorry, are giving? And so this breaks it down by month and gives us a percentage. And the caution here is always, hey, I know we love growing our numbers, but this is actually a number we never want to get to 100%. Because if it gets to a hundred percent, that means we're not bringing new people in. We're not reaching the people that God's called us as a church to reach. And so just what we found as a data point, if you guys are interested, is if that starts getting up into the to the high sixties, low seventies, that's the threshold where we've noticed, hey, that's probably a time we need to shift gears and really focus on inviting new people to come in and serve in our ministries. So any questions about that dashboard? Did that all track? Make sense? Yes. Yeah. So it's strictly the check mark. So you're just looking for that change if it's an x. Let's see if I've got a great example here. Not not a little bit. So on the on that sec on the second row, you see a bunch of x's, and then you see see two green check marks in a row. As soon as you see those check marks, that's the prompt. And so our our pastoral staff can access this anytime. Yes? Yeah. So best practice is the the the staff member that leads that ministry. And so for us, for like that second row would be the host team pastor. And so they're the ones that most likely have a relationship with them, and that's who we want to have make the connection. Yeah. Great question. Yes. Yes. Yes. So this is actually one of the two that John was talking about today. So the Rock team has actually rebuilt this report. It's gonna look a little bit differently, but it's the exact same functionality. I didn't hear I think it's coming out in '17, but that exact timing would be a great question for the Rock team. Yes? Hi. I'm just curious why you started with your volunteers. Yeah. Yeah. So so Oh, great. Yes. So the question was, hey. Why did we choose the volunteer analysis as one to share today? Yeah. Great question. So in my mind, there's there's two things about connecting data. One, we we've gotta have action on it. So I I apply something called the effectiveness equation. Have you guys heard this, effectiveness? Effectiveness is the it's like a math formula. It's the quality of the idea times the level of buy in equals the effectiveness. And so I've had a lot of ideas, and I want to try to communicate this as humbly as possible, but they weren't 100% ideas. Okay? They were like the best idea that has ever come down about the practical application of data. You know, it was just that great. But I got no buy in from the people that would need to execute on that. And so the effectiveness of that was next to nothing. It wasn't very effective at all. But I've had times where I had an idea that was about a 70% idea. It was pretty good, but it wasn't all that. But I had a % buy in from the people that were gonna take action, and they ran with it. So as we were thinking about things that we wanted to focus on where our pastors would take action, every one of our pastors is passionate about the people that serve in their ministries. And that's an audience that is bought in enough to our church that they're willing to give of their time, and they're willing to serve with their time, and they're being generous with their time. That's actually pretty low hanging fruit for taking a step in the area of generosity because they're bought in enough with our mission to give her their time. And so this this actually helped us be very strategic about, hey, since our pastors care about this group of people, this is a way to care for them even better. So they're gonna be bought in. It's gonna get buy in. And because they because of the the way it structures the data, it's just helping them make the most use of their time. Because as you guys know, as pastors, pastors are incredibly busy. They have a lot of things on their plate. And any given week, they may only have time for five calls like this, maybe, maybe 10, depending on the week. This can tell them what are the best five to 10 calls to make in this space. So because of that, this was one of the one of the first ones we rolled out strategically to our teams, and so I wanted to share it in that same way here for that strategy. Yes? Yeah. Yeah. So with the with the staff side, the typically, what they'll do is they'll set a goal. And so with the ability to filter by ministry, they'll look at a specific ministry, and they might see that, hey. I noticed your, you know, within your ministry, the rate is 35%. And man, every other ministry here at our campus is in the is in the mid forties. And so I think there's an opportunity here for that. So there'll be a specific goal set around that. And then they just a lot of times, it's an input goal rather than an output. And so let's say, let's see if we can impact that number. Would you commit to making five calls? And I'm going to listen to your first five calls and kinda coach you through that, make sure you're comfortable with that. But after that, man, I just I want you to commit to making five calls a week or whatever makes sense for that. And so that's where the accountability then comes out. Then as their their leader, they're those regular check ins. Hey. How are you doing? And then this is just a tool to monitor how effective that communication is. And then what I like about this is if they take a specific action, because this loads daily, it's almost real time. So if if, for example, I used it to to see p how many people were not giving in my ministry, then I can do a quick check. If I do a huddle, then I can see immediately, hey, was that communication effective? So it gives some real time feedback to the communicators as well. So definitely want to answer more questions. There's going to be a whiteboard session that I'm doing after this in the next time frame, and we'll cover a lot of questions. We've about ten minutes, have I read that card right? Okay, ten minutes to go over two more dashboards. So I'm gonna try to hurry through if that's okay. Alright. So one of the things that we've always wanted to know is how many people at our church are tithing. And so we built a dashboard that takes in census data, and this this is actually the second dashboard that's gonna be coming into CoreROC, which we're really excited about. It's gonna look a little different, but it is the same functionality. Really, Nick and his team did a great job putting it together. Nick's in the back of the room. Nick's the one that's making that happen. Yeah, he's hiding in the corner back there. Nick, great job on that. So what we did here is we wanted to look at all of our campuses and kind of get a sense for, hey, well are our campus teams leading people in that grow category? How well are they leading people toward the tithe and toward irrational generosity? But what we know is, man, a lot of our campuses are in different demographic areas than others. We've got some of our campuses that have been around a really long time. Is it really fair to compare them to a campus that just launched last year? Probably not. And so what we did is we pulled in the census data, which gives us income by zip code. And then we looked at where, for each campus, what zip codes are the givers actually coming from. So we connected that with ROC profile data to pull zip code information, and we weighted it based on how many people are coming from each zip code. And so if you've got 100 people coming from one zip code but 10 coming from the other, the 100 person zip code weighted 10 times more heavily than the 10 person. And so what that did then was it calculated a tithing threshold for each location. And it was unique to the demographic of that campus. And we felt like by doing that, that would give us a way to fairly compare campuses. And so the other thing we did is we factored in age of campus. And so the lighter the color, the newer the campus, the darker the older. And what we generally expect to see was the darker the campus, the further that would move to the left. And then the newer campuses should be further to the right. And that just lets me look at it and strategically see, hey, this campus isn't where I would expect them to be in this area. I'm just gonna pick up the phone or I'm gonna talk to the campus pastor. Hey, what's going on with your campus? Here's something I've noticed in the data. What can we learn from that? It's very collaborative. It's a very positive thing. But this is great. And so interestingly, we weren't sure what to expect, but we kind of guesstimate that about 40% of our folks that are attending are actually giving, between forty and forty five. And that's just an estimate based on how many times we think people attend every month. And as you all know, not everybody checks in. So we don't have great data, so that's an estimate. But what we do know, what we do have data for, is that based on this analysis, about sixteen point five percent of our givers are actually meeting the tithe threshold of their location. And so that was really fascinating data for us. And it just gave us a baseline that we can then grow from. And so I'll tell you if you guys promise not to tell our campus pastors this, I'll tell you a little bit of strategy behind this dashboard as well. Something I knew about my audience, and that's so important when you're sharing data with an audience, you got to know the audience. Something I knew about our audience is we hire really competitive campus pastors. So by building a visual that actually shows them all in one view, guess what happened without us doing anything else? We started seeing some improvement at the different campuses on the the level the number of households that were tithing. It was just it just brought it to their attention. And what we started seeing is on the on the weekend on their offering calls, we started seeing more people talking or teaching the tithe in in the offering call. And and we saw a change in in the data because of that. And that all happened because we strategically made a visual that that did a little bit of that allowed them to naturally tap tap into the gifting of competitiveness that God put in their hearts. So I'm really excited for this one to be in Core Rock as well. I wanted to share one last one that is a we call it the Giver Next Step dashboard. And you'll notice that most of it is this giant white block. And the reason for this dashboard, the reason this dashboard exists is we looked at all of our giving data over multiple years. And what we discovered is if somebody starts giving, there's only a 30% chance that they'll continue to give throughout the next year. If if their only engagement with us is giving. So if if somebody starts giving and that's their only engagement with us, there's only a 30% chance that they'll continue giving. But if they'll take one additional step of engagement with our church, whether that be serving, whether that be baptism, whether that be seeking information about a life group, if they take one additional step of engagement, that chance went up to over 80% that they would continue giving over the course of the next year. And that makes it more than two and a half times more likely that they'll continue to give if they take one additional step of engagement. So what we did is we built a dashboard, and this is intended to generate communication. So all of the whited out blocks, that's name, email, phone number, mailing address, all of the ways we could possibly communicate with somebody based on what we know. And it it shows when their last gift date was and then confirms which campus they they gave to. And then this this last column to the right right before all the blue boxes, that's the how many next steps those givers have taken. And so we have is a is a is a list of all of the people at this particular campus whose only engagement with our church that we know of is giving. And so we added a filter up here to the top right that is ready for next step. And what that filter does is it allows you to filter by different action steps that they might be invited to. And so, for example, we have kind of a new member class we call known, and we we invite people to attend a known event to get our get to know our church better. And so you can filter by all of the people that have given but have never attended a known event. And the action step here is now to reach out to those people with personal invites. So rather than just sending them an email or sending them a mailer or trusting that they're gonna see the the any of the communication pieces on the weekend, they're gonna get a personal invite from somebody saying, hey. You know, this is Rodney at Life Church. We've got an event coming up, and I thought of you. And, man, I would love to see you at our next known event. And here's when it is. Is that something you'd be interested in attending? And it's just a great opportunity to to connect with people and get them you know, encourage them to take that next step. And so you can filter that for baptism. You can filter that for serving. So if as a campus team or or a church, you're you're doing one of those pushes like, hey, we're gonna have a serving push. Great. Here's some people that ought to get personal invites. And so what we what we know from the data is that if we get those people to take that that step, we're two and a half more times likely to retain them over time. That grows generosity. And so that that's just another really practical example that campus teams can leverage. And you'll notice we're we're asking the the people that are using this data to do what God called them to do. You guys be pastors. Love on people. Care for them. That's what we want you to do, and we're just leveraging data to help us do that. So
