In this video, I'm going to walk you through the communication wizard. Begin by going to the people menu and selecting new communication. Okay. Okay. This is the communication wizard.
The first screen is the recipient selection screen. This is where you decide who's going to receive your communication. You can either send to a communication list, or you can select specific people to send to. For this demonstration, I'm going to send to a communication list. I'm gonna send a reminder to the women in a congregation to register for women's bible study.
So I'm gonna use the adult members and attendees list, but I don't want my communication to go to everyone in the church. I just wanna send to the women. So I'm going to use a segment to further refine my communication list. I'm going to select the female segment. This means I'll be sending to the female adult members and attendees.
Click next, and the wizard takes you to the communication delivery screen. This screen is where you decide how and when to send the communication. I'm gonna begin by giving my communication a name. And this name is just for internal use only. It's not something your recipients are going to see.
So I'm gonna call it women's bible study reminder. Now if you have Rock enabled, set up to send SMS messages, you're going to be you're going to see these options below on how to send the communication. If you don't have SMS enabled, it'll just default to email. But if you do have it enabled, you'll have the option of sending to the recipient preference or to only send to email or only to send to SMS. I'm going to use the recipient preference for this demonstration.
This is also where you decide when to send the communication. You can either send it immediately or you can set a specific date and time to send it. I'm gonna send it immediately. You'll notice on the right, there's an option to designate the communication as a bulk communication. Now depending on the size of your communication list, Rock may designate it automatically as a bulk communication, but you can also make this setting yourself.
Click next, and it takes you to the communication template screen. This screen is where you choose which template you wanna use to, to design your communication. If you have a lot of templates, you can filter them by category. I'm going to go with the default template. When I click on that, it takes me to the email summary screen.
This is where I can give my email a subject, I can add attachments, and I also can give it a CC list and a BCC list. So let's give our email a subject. Women's bible study registration. I'm also going to add an attachment. It's really easy.
You just click upload, choose the file, and there it is. Alright. Click next. And the wizard takes you to the email editor. And this is where things get really interesting.
The email editor is a it's a drag and drop interface that allows you to design your communication in real time. You'll notice at the top of the screen there are all these elements to choose from. If I want one of those elements in my communication template, I just click it, drag it to where I want it to go, and drop it. And if I click on that element on the right side of the screen, I'll have settings that I can configure to, to customize that element. So in this case, I have an image and I need to go find that image.
I'm gonna click upload, choose the image I want, and you'll see that it updates the template in real time. If I wanna change text, I just click the element, select the text that I want to change, and I start typing. It's really easy to use. It's very flexible and gives you a lot of control over your design. Say we want to add a button.
So if I wanna customize that element, just click on it and start changing it. You'll see how it updates in real time. If I put an element in there that I don't want after all, all I have to do is click it and hit delete. You'll notice on the right, there are two buttons, send test and preview. Send test will allow you to send a sample, a test message to your inbox so you can see what it looks when it arrives.
And the preview button will open a window that allows you to preview your communication in both the desktop and mobile environment. Okay. When you have your your template set up the way you want it to look, click next. And the communication wizard takes you to the mobile text editor screen. Now, if you don't have SMS enabled, you won't see this screen.
But we do, so let's do some configuring. You have to choose who's going to be sending the SMS message. And then there's the message field, which if you start typing into it, you'll see it shows you a preview on the right side of the screen, what your message will look . So you can also add attachments, images. It's really flexible.
When you're happy with the way that looks, click next, and it takes you to the final screen of the communication wizard. This is the confirmation screen. It's the moment of truth. If you're ready to send the communication, you just hit send. If you wanna save it as a draft so you can go back and edit it later, click save as draft.
You'll see that you get a view communication link. If you click that link, it'll take you right back into the wizard where you can further configure your communication. And that's it. That's the communication wizard. It's really easy to use.
It's very intuitive. It's very powerful. You're gonna be sending communications a pro in no time.
