In this video, we're going to cover system communications. Now, it can be easy to confuse system communications with communication templates. Think of communication templates as communications that a person is going to send sort of manually to a person or to a group of people. System communications, on the other hand, are communications that are sent automatically by the system by Rock. So if you're thinking of a process the, pending group member notifications that goes out to leaders, the email that leaders gets is a system communication because there's a job that goes out and automatically sends it. There's not a person clicking send. But even though system emails are used and sent by the system, we still want you to have control over how they look and what they say. So we're gonna take a look at this video on how to do that. So, we're going to start by going to admin tools and communications and system communications. And here you can see that there's a list of communications that ship with Rock and are ready to use out of the box. So you can click on any one of these to go ahead and update it if you need to. So we'll just look at the first one on the list here for an example. Okay. So you'll notice the category, which is required. So all of the system, communications are going to use a category. Then the from name, the from address, and the to fields are mostly gonna be blank. These are typically set by the automated process that's sending this communication. But if it'll always be the same from name, from address, or to address, you could add it at this level. But, typically, that's gonna be blank. The subject field is required, and can be whatever you want. Just don't forget that it can be personalized or customized using Lava. Then below those settings, we have a preview of how the email itself looks. We can toggle the preview mode to switch between desktop and mobile views, so you can see how it looks on each format. We can also switch over to the advanced view, which is where we would come to modify the content of the email. And you'll notice in these emails, that they start and end with global attributes, for the header and the footer. That means that if you decide to change your header or your footer, you only need to make that change in one place in global attributes, and it'll be picked up by the system communications automatically. Now, this is for the email, but there's also configuration that you can use for SMS and for push notifications. Now, if we go back to the list of system communications, , most of the time, you'll be coming here to edit system communications, but you can also come here to add new ones too. You can just click on the plus button, to add a new one, and you'll see all the same fields and settings that we just reviewed. While there's nothing wrong with creating your own system communications, in most cases you're probably going to start with an existing one and modify it for your needs. In that case, we definitely recommend keeping a backup of the original email somewhere just in case you have to revert back to it. But for more information on system communications or communications in general, be sure and check out our communicating with Rock guide posted to the community website. And thanks for watching.
