Rock U - Content Management - Internal Home Page v13
Transcribed Video Content
In this video, we're gonna be talking about updating the content on your internal Rock homepage. Now, the internal Rock homepage has a lot of information on it. There's links and metrics and things that, but we're gonna be talking about the staff updates section, kind of in the front and center on that page. So we're gonna show you in this video how to keep that content updated for your staff. So here we are on the Rock Internal homepage, and here we have our staff update section.
And this is what we're looking to update here. We're gonna update, you can see that there's an image and a title and then some content. And then down below, we have individual articles with with links for more info under each one. And this is the content that we're gonna be updating. Now, of course, there's lots of other content on here, the metrics, the administrator checklist.
We have quick links to commonly used sites. But for this video, we're just looking at the staff update section of the internal home page. So to start, let's jump into content channels so we can see how to add a new staff update here to your internal home page. And to do that, we're gonna go to tools and content, and then we're gonna go to the internal communications homepage. And down below, can see that we already have an item for that.
That's what we just saw. And what we're gonna do is we're gonna add a row to create a new item. The first thing that we're gonna do is give it a title, and we'll set the active date. It defaults to today's date, but you can set that a date in the future if you want. We're also gonna pick a feature image.
So we'll we'll that'll be the larger image that appears kinda near the top of the block. So we'll pick an image for that. Okay. We've got an image uploaded there. And then we have our feature title and feature text, and those show up on the home page.
And so we're gonna go ahead and just use our content channel item title here for the feature title, and then we'll give it some text. And we got some text there, just for example purposes. And then down below, we have our articles section. And as it says, you need to have at least one article. We're we're gonna add a couple.
These are gonna be the the smaller pictures and text that appear just below the main feature image and text, on the home page. And so we'll go ahead and add our first article here. And for each article, you need to pick an image, and then give it a title, and then some content. And then you can, click a link. And that's, gonna be the more info link that we saw on the homepage, originally.
And that'll take you to, presumably where you have more content that you want the person to watch. So we'll fill all this in. And there we go. Again, just some, sample content so you can see what it looks on the home page. So with our second article here all set, we'll go ahead and save.
And now we've got our two articles. We've got our feature items all set, and so we're gonna go ahead and save this. And then we can see our our item listed here at the top. And if we go back to the home page, you'll notice we still see, the old images, the old articles, everything that was there before. And that's because by default, this is all cached, which is a good idea to help things move quickly.
But, in this case, the cache is preventing us from seeing our update right away. So what we're gonna do is go into the block properties, and for this block, and we're gonna edit the properties. And way down at the bottom, we have our cache duration, and we're gonna change that to zero so that we can see our update. And there we go. With that change, now we can see our updates.
So we have our new image, our new title, our new content, and then down below here are our individual articles that we set up. So here are the two articles with their more info link taking us to the page that we configured. So as you can see, it's pretty quick and easy to add new content to your internal homepage to keep things fresh and relevant for your staff.
