Rock U - Event & Calendar - iCalendar Feed v13

Transcribed Video Content

In this video, we'll talk about the exporting of the iCalendar feed. This is a great way to keep your staff updated and in sync with Rock's calendar on their personal or work calendars. The URL that we'll get from Rock would go directly into your work calendar, which could be Outlook or iOS or even Google, whichever type of calendar it is that you're using. By default, this is how the description for the event will be determined. This can be changed by editing the default iCal description defined value Under the lava templates defined type, this is the basic format of the URL that you're gonna plug into your calendar. It's important that the URL contain the, get event calendar feed dot a s h x piece, and that it has the parameter of calendar ID defined as shown in this example, where it's calendar ID equal to one. However, you don't have to write this all out. Each calendar has an export calendar feed button that you can use to copy the full URL to your clipboard, where you can then paste it into your calendar program. So that's how you can export the iCalendar feed. But don't forget that there are other parameters that you can add to the URL to refine it further. So, for instance, you can use a campus parameter or a date range parameter. For examples of these and the options that you have, check out our events and calendar guide posted to the Rock Community website. And thanks for watching.
