Rock U - Event & Calendar - Registration Discounts v13
Transcribed Video Content
In event registration, you can offer discounts to people who are registering for an event. There are different types of discounts that you can configure. In this video, we'll show you an example of how to set up an early bird discount so you can see how the process works. So we'll start by looking at the registration template, which we can get to under tools and event registration. And we'll pull up the template for summer camp.
And if we edit that template, we can see that there's a panel here for discounts, which we can expand. And there's already one set up, that uses a code of staff to get you a 50% discount, but we're gonna go ahead and add a new one. And again, for this example, we're gonna be setting up an early bird discount. So for our discount code, we'll type in early, and that's what we'll call it. Down below the code, you have the discount type, which is either a percentage or an amount.
So you can take off a flat amount, or, you can take off a percentage of the overall cost. And, in this case, we're gonna use the percentage. We'll just keep it there. And we'll say that early bird gets a 25% off discount. Down below, can choose to automatically apply the discount to the registration.
And we're gonna go ahead and select that for our early bird discount. That way, don't need to enter in a code or do anything. It'll it'll automatically be applied. And, again, because it's an early bird discount, we're gonna cut over here to the effective dates, and we're gonna give it a range of, we'll say a couple months back through to, we'll call it July 1. So this discount is only going to apply as long as the person registers for the event, between March 1 and July 1.
And then after July 1, the discount will no longer apply. And that's how we get our early bird discount, , if they're registering, in advance of the event actually starting. We do have a couple other options here that we're not using for this particular discount, but you should be aware of them. So, we have the maximum usage option. And you would apply this if you only want this code to be used a certain number of times.
So you might use this to apply a discount for the first fifty people who sign up, something that. Then down below, have the maximum registrants and minimum registrants. These typically apply when a single person is registering multiple people. So for instance, you might use the minimum registrants field to set up a volume discount, if the discount should only apply if five or more people are being registered. But for now, we're gonna leave our early bird discount just the way it is.
So I'm gonna go ahead and click save to save the discount, and then save to save the template. And let's go ahead and take a look at what that looks , during an actual event registration. So here we're going to register one person, and we'll get them set up. Okay. So we have the registration form filled out, so we'll click next.
And here on the next screen, we can already see in green that, 25% discount code for all registrants was automatically applied, and that's because we set it to auto apply the discount. So here we have our discount code of early. It's automatically been applied. You'll notice that the normal amount for a registration into this summer camp is $200, but the discounted amount is only a hundred and $50, so 25% off. And then that gets reflected here in the totals, in addition to the t shirt.
Now we're gonna go ahead and finish out this registration by paying for it, and finish. So now that we've completed the registration, let's go back to the internal site to see how we can look up information about this discount. So, again, to do that, we're gonna go under tools, event registration, and then we'll pull up the, summer camp twenty twenty two here, registration instance. And then you'll notice that there is a discounts tab down below here. And we can see that this discount which discount code was was used, how many registrants it was applied to, what the discount is, what the total cost is without the discount, and then eventually the, registration cost, which is the total cost, the registration plus the fees.
And then, of course, down below, you have total results, and it'll sum this up for multiple people as as more and more discounts get used. You can also look up discount information on individual registrations. So if I go over to the registrations tab and pull up the registration that we just did, you can see right here that the discount code early was applied and that it had a percentage of 25%. That's the discount percentage. So that's how you set up and apply discounts.
