In this video, we're gonna look at the group viewer and how you can add new groups from the group viewer. There are a couple of ways to get to the group viewer. One is you can use the search bar up here and search for a group by its name. So if I were to look for Ushers, I get the group search results page because there's a couple groups named Ushers. There's more than one, and so I can pick which one it is that I want to look at, and clicking one of these will take me to the group viewer. If there were only one group named Ushers, then it would take me directly to the group viewer for that group. So that's one way to get to the group viewer is to search for it up here. The other way is to go over here to people and group viewer. So here in the group viewer, you can find groups a different way. So the group viewer has all of these what are called parent groups. And wherever you see this little triangle icon, that means that there are children groups below that parent group. And this is how you navigate the group structure using the group viewer, is to expand these parent groups to see the children that are underneath them. Now, this block has a lot of settings, So an administrator will want to check on that, and possibly set some of them. You can, restrict the groups that you see here by their type. You can also set what you want the root group to be. So if you just wanted this tree view to show serving teams and groups under serving teams only, you could do that. There's quite a few settings that you'll want to take a look at. For now, we're going to add a new group under general groups. And so, going to come up here, and I'm going to click on add group. And from here, I can either add a group to the top level, which means it's going to be a parent and not a child of anything, Or I can add it as a child to the selected group, and that's what we want to do. So I'm gonna add it as a child to the selected group. So now, we can pick a name for our new group. I'm just gonna call it group. And you'll notice that down here, we have a group type that's already filled in. It says general group. That's because the parent group that we added this to is configured at the group type level to only allow child groups of type general group. So, because we can only have general groups under that parent group, it's filled in for us. But, if we could have other types of groups, if that were allowed based on the group type settings, then this would be blank, and we would need to pick which type of group this new group that we're adding should be. You'll also notice that the parent group is filled in. This is being added as a child to the general group's parent group, and so that's filled in for us. But you could change it if you wanted to, to set the the new group that we're creating to be under a different parent. But we'll leave it at general groups. And we'll go ahead and save this. So now you can see that we have our new group under general groups, and we can collapse that and expand it to show it. And you can do that as many levels down as you need to. So I can come back up here and go to add group, add child to selected, and I could add a second group under the first group that we added, and I'll save that. And so you can see here we have multiple levels of groups. So you can have parents and children at different levels, which is a great and very powerful way to organize your groups and how they're viewed here in the group viewer. Now, are a couple other settings that we want to bring to your attention. If you hover your mouse up above, the list of groups, just to the right of where it says add group, there's a little gear icon that appears, and you can click that to see some additional options. So, first, can choose to show only active groups or all groups, so that would be active or inactive. We can also choose to see only groups that are marked as is public, or we can choose to see all. We can also show counts, and there's one of two different types of counts that we can see. We can show a count of how many child groups exist under a given parent, or we can get a count of the number of group members that are in the group. So if we pick child groups, , the section b has four child groups underneath it. And if we expand section b, we can see one, two, three, four groups are underneath it. Versus if we showed account for group members, then section a and section b have zero for their group members because there are no people in those groups. But if we expand those groups, then we can see that the children have people in them, it'll give us a count of those people. Then last but not least, you can search for groups from here, which if you have a lot of groups and maybe if they're nested under different levels and might be hard to find, you can do a search. So just I searched earlier, if I were to do a search for Ushers, it brings me to the same page here where I can choose which one I want. Otherwise, if I search for a specific group ASU, then it'll find the ASU student group for me and bring me right there because there's only one group named ASU. And that's how you can search for groups from within the viewer. And that's all there is for the group viewer. But if you want more details on group types or groups or how to set any of this up, be sure and check out our Rock Your Groups guide posted to the community website. Thanks for watching.
