Rock U - Content Management - Rock as a CMS

So let's talk about Rock as a content management tool. When we first started developing Rock, these were the first tools that we worked on. And we did so because we wanted to have a product that was extensible by us and of course by you. So if we look at two different pages within Rock, you might think that there's a lot of different things going on that's different between these two pages but actually there isn't. It's almost the exact same code and this is what we're loading different blocks and content depending on what page you're looking for. Here's another page in Rock. Now this template or this theme is not meant to be the end all be all of all websites, it's meant to be a starting point for you to build your sites from. But the key here is if we look at the content on the site, we'll see that it's really made up of several different types of blocks. There's an ad rotator block, there's a navigation block, login status block, there's an ads, detail block and there's also an HTML block at the bottom that's really for the the footer. But the key is it's almost a set of Legos. Those blocks, there's a couple hundred blocks in Rock that you can assemble to make almost anything that you want. Now, that could be a little overwhelming at first but the key is we've preassembled all those blocks to build something that out of the box is almost exactly what you need. Now that said, you can change all of this and we'll go over that in future videos.
