Short links are exactly what their name implies. They are short web links you can use to replace long complicated URLs. And you can create short links using Rock for any of the pages of your internal or external sites. Let's take a look at how to create one. So here we are at the Rock Solid Church site. If I scroll down to my admin toolbar, you'll see over here there's a link button. The link button is the add short link button. When I click it, I get the shortened link window. And there are a few settings on this window. Let's take a look at what they are. The first is the shortening link site. This is the site the short link will build the link from. Now only sites that are enabled for shortening will show up in the list of options here. To enable a site for shortening you have to go to that site's detail screen which we do over in our Rock internal site. So from the admin tools I would select CMS configuration and go to sites. You'll see here is the external website, the Rock Solid Church site. I'm gonna click on that to show its details and I'm gonna click the edit button. If I scroll down a little you'll see here it is a setting for enable for shortening which is checked. When it's checked it means I can create short links for that site. So back over on our external website you'll see here I have external website, selected for the shortening link site. Below that is the URL field and that's the address the link the short link will take users to. And over here on the right is the token field. Now the token is a unique random seven digit value that the short link will use to identify the page. Rock generates this code automatically for you but you can provide your own in this field. It just has to be seven digits long. Now you'll see up here in the upper right, the short link preview shows you what your short link will look . And if I were to change one of these values in my token field you'll see that that preview is automatically updated. So any of the changes I make to the settings here you're gonna be able to see up here in this demo in this preview. So when I'm happy with this, I click save and it has saved the short link now and it's also automatically copied it to my clipboard so it's ready to use. Now to see and manage your short links, you go back to your internal site to the admins menu admin tools and go to CMS configuration and click on short links. And you'll see here's the short link that I've just created. If I wanna edit it or view its details, I just click on it and you'll see over here on the right there's this copy button which again if I click it will copy that short link to my clipboard and I'm ready to use it. If I wanna edit the link further I can click the edit button and it will give me those same setting fields that I saw in the shortened link window. And that's how short links work. As you can see, Rock makes them super easy to create and maintain.
