Rock U - Steps - Steps Badges

Transcribed Video Content

Completing individual steps or even an entire step program is quite an accomplishment. So why not recognize it with a badge? Let's take a look at how to set up STEP badges and how to get them added to the person profile. To do that, we need to make sure that the badge is on our list, and so we're gonna go to admin tools and general settings and badges. And here we have our list of badges, and you'll notice that we've got one here for the Discipleship Step badge. And we're using this as an example because the Discipleship program is one that ships with Rock. Now, as you can see, you can use this as a template for setting up your own badges. We have a standard name and description field. The entity type will be person. The badge type will be steps. And, of course, that's critical for the steps badge. Once you select that the badge type is steps, you'll be provided with options for the step program and for the display mode. We have the discipleship path step program selected, and the display mode is condensed. In this case, I'm gonna go ahead and use the normal display mode, And we'll go ahead and save. Now that we have this badge set up, we're ready to go over to the person profile. And so I'll pull up the profile for Ted Decker. And here we have the familiar badge bar located roughly in the middle of the top part of the screen, and we wanna get our STEP program badges added to it. And so I'm gonna access the block settings by going to the block configuration, and let's go ahead and do the badges two area because as you can see, we have three different areas here, and I'm gonna choose badges two. And we've got our Discipleship Step badge all set up, ready, and waiting for us, so I'm gonna enable that and click Save. Now, once I refresh the page, you can see that the badges for our steps have been added. And you'll notice that the third step, the serving step, has a little number two next to it. That's because when we configured the step type, we indicated that we wanted to show the count on the badge. Now that only works when the badges are shown in the normal and not the condensed view. You'll also notice that each of these have colors. That too is defined on the step type. So to control how these badges look, be sure and check out our documentation or the previous video on setting up step types. So that you can see what it looks , let's head back to admin tools and the general settings to pull up our discipleship step badge, and we're gonna edit it to show the condensed display mode instead. And if I go back to the person profile for Ted Decker, notice that the condensed view doesn't have the count on the serving badge we saw before. Now for comparison purposes, let's go ahead and pull up Cindy Decker and take a look at her badges. Now she has not completed any steps, and so there are no colors present for her. But if we hover over this, we can still see that she has the baptism and starting point class steps that are in progress. And that's how easy it is to add STEP badges for your STEP programs. Be sure and check out the other videos that we have on STEPPS for additional details, and be sure and check out the engagement guide posted online. Thanks for watching.
