Rock U - Lava - Web Request Command

Okay. So let's look at the web command, web request command and see what it can do for us. So we live in an age of APIs. There's an API for everything out there in the world. And so what this lava command does is allows us to hook into those, APIs and interact with them. So in this case, we're gonna hit the open weather map API and we're just gonna ask for the current weather, given a, city name. So in this case, Sun City, Arizona and a few other, little options in terms of how many units we want to get back and and an API ID, an app ID for authentication. And then we're just gonna re return back, the results of that, in which case we get something this. So the key is to think through all the different things that have APIs and how can you extend your Lava, in clever ways of presenting this into either your workflow or your web page. For instance, in our organization, we have a time tracking system and so we use this command to go out and and bring back information and develop reports from the time tracking system. The cool thing is it looks it's it's running completely in Rock and it is because it's all using lava. But we could also, instead of just putting those onto a, web page, we could use those in workflows too. So we could go out there, we could get information about, , the time for that week or something, put it into a workflow and have that workflow kick it off from there and and do other things. So I think the key is to look around you. I think you'll see that there's APIs all around you and there's lots of different things that you can do with those APIs using this command. And if you need more information about this command, it has several, optional parameters to really help you with authentication and and return types. Go ahead and and look at the, documentation and I think you'll find it's pretty easy.
