Rock U - Communications - Sending Messages in Simple Mode

There are multiple ways to send communications in Rock. You can send through the communications wizard or the simple editor. This simple editor is a great way to send emails and text messages quickly and efficiently. Let's look into how easy it is to use right now. I'm gonna show you multiple ways we can access the simple editor. One of those being if we go to any grid in Rock, the one that shows up when we search for a person, we can go to the menu and we can click communicate. Now that's gonna take that list of people we just had and put them into the communication wizard, but we can click use simple editor instead, and we can start messaging those people that we were looking at. Now the second way to get there to get here is very simple. You just go to people, you click on new communication, and then that use simple editor button again. Now there's three different types of communications we can send here. We can send SMS from numbers that we have set up. We can even schedule a send, add attachments, and more. We can send a push notification all from one screen. And this is if you have a Rock mobile app set up. And of course, here it's showing you whether or not these people can receive the actual message we're considering here. So none of them have an app set up, so we can't send to them. For SMS, only Cindy and Ted have SMS set up. Same with email. We can also add additional email recipients. We can do that just by putting in their email address here. If you don't have them in your database, that's fine. You can also select a template from your communication templates that's compatible with a simple communication. Pick the from name and address, reply to address if that's separate, Type in the subject. You can even schedule a send for a different time. Also, you can pick whether this is a bulk communication. For your sender reputation, it's important to click this on if you're sending to a larger group of people that aren't expecting your email as you want it to be marked as bulk. Whereas if you mark this as a personal email and then it was recognized that this email is more so a bulk communication, your sender reputation can go down. So you just wanna make sure to protect that. Then there's a nice simple editor here. You can switch between using HTML or a very simple editor here. In this case, we can say something , hello, Deckers. Your children have been great this month at student ministry. And if we wanted to quickly go and send this, we can click send communication or we can send a test if we want to test and see what this looks with a different email, or you can save this as a draft and come back to it later using the communication history. So there are a bunch of great ways here to quickly get information out to a group of people. Now, another thing that we can do here is if we go to the block configuration and we go to our settings, we can pick whether Lava is enabled here. And, this allows you to use Lava in a message, and that means you can personalize messages to a person or a group of people. You can also pick which mediums are available, the default template you wanna show up here, the maximum number of recipients. You might have a maximum that's different here because maybe you wanna use the simple editor only for small lists of people you're sending to. Then you can also pick which mode you wanna be in here, whether it's the full mode or the simple mode. And there's much more allowing CC, BCC, which numbers are available for SMS, defaulting to a bulk communication. You can even pick to enable communication list selection that allows you to easily select a communication list to send to instead of having to use something a person grid or manually entering people. Then just some things here in relation to that HTML editor you saw for the email we're sending. And that's the simple communication method in a few steps. Using simple mode, you can do quick sends to the right groups of people. Try testing it out on a couple small messages you have to send out and you'll see how practical and easy to use that it is.
