Rock U - Steps - Adding Steps

Baptism, membership, a first serve, or a completed class. These things matter, and it's important to capture these milestones. So once you have your step type set up, it's time to start adding steps and I'll show you how to do that now. Okay. Let's look at every way to add a step in Rock right now. So head over to people, down to steps, then we'll click into our discipleship path step program, and we're going to select the baptism step type. Something I wanna note before that though is if you want to bulk update steps, you can do so from this step type block here, but let's click into baptism. And for the way that we're filtering right now, the current year, we've got no participants. So we're gonna add a new one. We'll click plus, and this is gonna be for Phil Coffey. We'll say that this is in progress right now and the date was today for baptism. We can also add a note and more, and we have step type attributes, some custom ones here, but we're gonna fill these in and we'll hit save. Now we can see that Phil is a participant. And if we wanna go back and edit these, all you have to do is click into it, click edit, and it's pretty simple. We can change whatever is here to complete for example, Pick save and now we can see that that is complete. If you wanna make a change to a bunch of people at once, you can click bulk entry and we can come in here and we can just go add tons of people and it's pretty simple. You'll notice we won't actually be able to make this change because this isn't a step where you can allow multiple. So these people have already completed this step, but theoretically you could come in, you could pick a date, status, and more, even custom attributes. And you can go ahead and update all of those for many people at once. But we'll head out here and another way that you can add steps is going to a person profile, then click on the steps tab. And there's this block here that you can view in two different modes, this list mode or this grid mode. And we'll stick with the grid mode here. It's pretty simple. We have the discipleship path here. That's our, program. And if we hover over steps, for example, baptism, you can't allow multiple, so there's just one date. We can go edit it here, but we can see that Ted has completed all of these. For those that you can do multiple times, we can go click and add a new step and it will be similar to that way that we saw earlier to add a step and you can add attributes as well of course. And we'll save and now you can see it's been done four times, there's an in progress step. And if you wanna go back and edit any step, that's easy, just click that pencil icon, we'll click edit, and you can change the status for example. And we've done some updates here. Now, another way that you can add steps is actually through a workflow. So we're going to head to settings and look for workflow configuration, click here and we'll go into a random workflow type and we'll go edit it. Generally, you'd actually be setting up a workflow and there's a lot of logic in that, but we're just gonna add an action to show you what it looks to add one of these add step actions. So you'll scroll down to people, then you'll scroll down again, click on step add, and it's super simple. You give it a name and a person, then you can hard code the step type and status, all those things, for the kind of step you wanna add, or you can use attribute values, to populate those more easily. Adding steps is how a milestone becomes a record that you can act on and track and Rock so that you can care for your people better.
