Rock U - Content Management - Asset Manager

Every image, PDF and video that your site serves has to live somewhere. If you want it to be in Rock, so it's easy to find anytime, you can do that using the asset manager. All you need to do is connect either a local folder, Amazon S3, Azure storage or something that and you can start keeping all of your valuable files within Rock. So let's set up the asset manager. Just head to admin tools up to settings, then start typing an asset, click on asset storage providers. And we have one with local content set up out of the box and that's just using the server file system. And it's really simple, but if we go to add a new one, we can pick a different storage type such as Amazon s three or Azure Google Cloud Storage. And if you select one of these, you will just need to do some setup which we detail in the documentation, how to do this, get your access key, account name, container name, and then selecting a root folder. And that's pretty simple. Then once you get it set up, what you'll do is you'll head to admin tools, settings, and you can go to the actual asset manager. Clicking in here, we'll just go to the block settings first just so you can see the way we've got it set up. Right now we don't have asset storage providers enabled and we are just using a root folder of content. And you can pick things a file editor page if you wanna set that up or whether you want zips to be uploaded. But we'll cancel out here and you can see it's pretty simple. It looks probably other asset managers you've seen just a file system and it's easy to add folders. And then within those folders, you'll find different files or things that are uploaded. And it's super easy to access these whenever you need them in different places. So it's just a great way to keep important assets you need within Rock. And I'll show two different ways we can access these assets. There's more but this these are some easy ways. If we go to admin tools, settings, and we're just gonna add an attribute so you can see an example. But we'll click plus here. And if you have a field type of asset, then when you go to actually select a value for this attribute, you will have the asset manager pull up and it's easy to find those things that you need. You can simply select one and there it is. But we're gonna cancel out. We're going to head to our external website and we're just on a random page on the external website, the resources page. And I'm going to go to the block settings here. This is an HTML block. And if I'm in the mode that isn't the code editor, the easy editor or the what you see is what you get editor, we can click this asset manager button here and we will have that same view pull up. We can simply select something that we want and it will be added to our content. So it's super easy. The asset manager keeps every file that your site depends on in one place. So set this up once and you'll have a nice central area to keep all of your files in Rock.
