Every kiosk and label printer in your lobby is hardware that Rock needs to know about. So let's talk about defining your devices, picking the right locations, areas, groups, schedules, and more so that we can set up this very important bit of foundation for check-in now. Let's set up check-in devices. So head to admin tools up to check-in, then make sure to click devices under kiosk settings. We've got quite a few types here including printer, check-in kiosk, self-service kiosk, or even a cloud print proxy device. This is only for cloud printing. I'll mention that in a moment, but let's click into the printer. The setup for these is really simple. You will just include the IP address for the printer so that you can print straight to the IP address, then make sure the device type is printer. You can pick whether this has a cutter to automatically cut tags or not. Then you can also configure a proxy device if you're doing cloud printing. We have documentation on how to set up cloud printing. Now when you're done with that, you'll click save. Now let's click through some of the different check-in kiosk types. One is using the browser, and you'll just pick the check-in kiosk device type here and print settings. These are important. We do have some documentation with a little flow chart on our community site that lets when you should pick which and shows things , does the client application have a printer override defined? If yes, print using override device, but step through that on your own to determine what setup you need here. There are three types of print using. You can either use, on the group type. There's the setting that's called print using and you can pick on the group type what printer to use or you can use the device printer that you pick down here or a location printer. And for each named location, you can pick a printer associated with it if you want to print that way. Then you can pick whether you want to print from the client or the server. So for the browser, we're gonna pick server, but for the Windows app or iPad app, you can pick client. Now also you'll wanna select locations for a device this, then we'll save. And let's look at one of the iPads. So here's an iPad, simple setup, check-in kiosk device type. We have the IP address. Then we're saying here to print using the device printer defined here. We're actually printing from the client. So that works on iPad. You can print from the client and we can say has camera so that Lets Rock know that this kiosk has a camera it can use to scan barcodes and print labels from those QR codes. And you can pick the barcode configuration here. We have documentation on what this means. But just remember, printing from the client is only for the iPad or the Windows app. If you are, doing something else, if you are printing from the server, you need to make sure that you're on the same Wi Fi network as the, server that you have. And you'll wanna note that if you're externally hosting Rock, you'll need to use the iPad or the Windows app kiosk type unless you do cloud printing. But let's look at how to get that Windows app. So this is a way that a lot a lot of people that use Rock do printing. It's pretty simple to find it. All you need to do is go to admin tools, settings, and look for external applications. Then you can download the Rock Windows check-in client here by clicking the download button. And, again, this, client hosts the Rock check-in screens and allows client based printing to either networked or USB printers, meaning you can have a setup where you don't even need to worry about your network. With your devices defined correctly, now Rock knows all about your setup and we can move into things designing the labels that your printers will produce.
