Rock U - Event & Calendar - Event Attributes
Transcribed Video Content
Standard event attributes only go so far when you're trying to track things cost estimates, a ministry contact, or even requirements for an event. And I'm gonna show you where these custom attributes show up in the process and how to add your own. So to add attributes, we need to pull up the calendar. We'll go to tools, then we'll go down to calendars, click there. We've got a few here.
Let's click on public. And if you go to edit a calendar, there's a section called event attributes. And we actually have two already on the public calendar. Those are called Twitter photo and Facebook photo, and they're really specific. They're images with a description and they're actually pretty valuable.
They allow us to make it easier to post to Twitter or Facebook for an event that we have with just some nice guidelines. So keep this in mind, there's so many different kinds of attributes you can add of course, but we'll save. Now when we actually go to the events within the calendar, such as the warrior youth event or the customs and classic car show, let's click on that and we click edit, then we scroll down, there will be event attribute values. And this isn't editable because any event within this calendar will have that same set of attributes that we set up. And you can add more, of course, then this is where we actually take action and we can see that description, but we can add attributes here for event occurrences.
So let's say for event occurrences, we want to make one called members only and it's really simple. It's just a Boolean meaning a checkbox. And basically what it will be is when someone is adding an occurrence, they'll pick whether it's members only. We'll save this, and now we can go down to occurrences. If we click into one of the occurrences and click edit, we can go to the attribute values and we can select.
Now when you save this, this actually shows up on the detail screen here. You can see it says members only. And now we've been able to add attributes to not only events, but also event occurrences. Event attributes let Rock capture fields that are important to your ministry. When the standard event fields aren't getting you the information you need, go add your own.
