Adding a family is possibly one of the most common things you'll do in Rock. So having this block set up properly, doing things adding attributes to be filled out, or even setting actions to happen once someone adds a family will really simplify your life and your team's life. So let's look into it right now. Okay. Let's extend the add family block. So we'll head to people and then new family and we will go to the block settings here. Now there's quite a few things to cover. I'll skip some of them and highlight the most important. First of all, group type. So this is really an add group block. So if you're wanting to add members to a different kind of group with this block, you can do that instead. You can pick any kind of group type in Rock making this a really, really flexible block. Then if you wanna have some kind of organization, you can use a parent group. So with whichever group type you pick, you can pick a parent group that you want every new group added here to fall under as a family is just a group under the hood. Then you can pick quite a few different things related to fields, if you want to show or default different fields that pop up as you're adding a family. And you can pick whether they're required or not as well. You can also pick whether you wanna show inactive campuses or even a county. You can pick the location types that are available. Then you can also pick which attribute categories you can add values for. So this is important if for families, for example, you have a category of attributes that you want them to be able to fill out or you want a staff member to be able to fill out as they're entering this information, Then you can pick workflows for different people that would run when this process is over, such as if you want a workflow to run for any person, for just the adults, just the children or a group, you can really simply do that and take action straight from this block. Then you can add a person detail page so that when you click on a person, it'll take you straight there after the family has been added. You can also pick if you're using alternate identifiers, whether you want to be able to, manually add one at the end or you can generate one automatically, then to make sure you're not getting duplicate groups or families, you can have this block detect whether a group is already added for the address that they pick and they'd be able to select that that group. So a prompt would come up and you can do max groups at an address to detect as well. And those are the ways that you can extend this add family block. The add family block is one of the front doors to getting people into your database. So having this set up properly will make sure that you always get the information you need.
