Rock U - Groups - Group Location
Transcribed Video Content
One small setting decides whether your groups show up on a map, feed check-in, and never double book a room. You can either tie one or many locations to a group and this will make things check-in setup and scheduling so much easier in the future. To set group locations in Rock, you'll first wanna see what you've made available from the group type. So we'll go to admin tools, settings, then look for group types. And let's look for small groups here.
And all we need to do is scroll down a little bit, and you'll see location and scheduling. We can pick which selection modes are available. For the sake of this, I'm gonna make them all available here. Also note, you can pick to allow multiple locations, but I'm not gonna do that right now. I'll go ahead and save, and we'll go to people, then to the group viewer, and I'm gonna look into one of our actual groups.
So let's click on section b, marble group. We can see this map here showing off our meeting location, but we can actually pick locations in a different way. So if we edit this group and we'll just scroll down here, You can see group location schedules. If we click edit, right now we're using member location, and that's a really nice way to do it, especially for small groups as often it will just be one of the leaders of the home, their home, or someone else's home where people are meeting. So you can select here which member's home or you can click other location.
Then when you click location, we have those four options I mentioned. So we can use a named location. Named locations are something that you can set up in the settings in Rock. Just pick a persistent location such as one that's connected to the main campus, for example. We can straight up type in an address or we can go around and we can pick a point on a map that can be our location.
Or if we have a larger location or, we're in kind of a more complex situation, we can use something a geofence to say where our location is and you can get really specific about what this geofence looks . But yeah, there are many different ways to add locations to a group in Rock. Good location data keeps rooms booked, check-in accurate, and maps helpful. So remember you set it in one place and Rock will remember all across the board.
