Rock U - Check-In - Mobile Check-in Configuration

Transcribed Video Content

In this video, we're gonna dive deep into the mobile check-in configuration. And, of course, with check-in in general, there's a lot of configuration that goes into it. , you need to set up your your groups and locations and all that good stuff. And so it's important that you have that in place in advance. And if you need some assistance with that, you can check out our other ROCKU videos and our, checking outcheck-in manual that's posted online to the Rock community site. But for now, we're gonna dive straight into mobile check-in and see what it takes to get it set up. The first thing that you're gonna need to do is to add a new device that's specifically for mobile check-in. And as you're setting this up, you'll want to think of it any other kiosk that you would use for check-in, but this is going be a virtual kiosk. And so kind of approach it with that mindset. So we're going to go into check-in, and we're going to look at our devices. And these are the standard devices that ship with Rock, and we're going to go ahead and add a new one. And we're going to call this one our main campus virtual kiosk. And then for the device type, we're gonna use check-in kiosk. And here we have a point and geofence picker. And for this, we're gonna use a geofence. Now, in order for this to work, you need to have a Google API key. So if you don't have one set up yet, and it's defined as a global attribute in Rock, go out and grab one, and you can start using this feature. So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to take our map here, and I'm gonna draw kind of a random area, and you'll see why in a moment. So I'm gonna block off a little vaguely squarish section there, but we'll call that good. We'll say done. So we've got the geofence established. Now, what does that do? The person can only check-in if they're within the geofence boundary. And you'll want to have one of these devices per campus for that reason. Because if you have multiple campuses and the person needs to be near the campus, then you'll need multiple devices, one for each campus, so each campus can have its own geofence. Most organizations will use print settings of device printer and client, and you'll notice the printer is blank. Down at the bottom of the page, you're gonna wanna list the locations that are associated with your check-in. And so I'm just going to select main campus since that's the only one that we have here. And there's some beneath it, but for our example purpose, I'll just pick main campus. And then we're gonna hit save to save the device. Now that the device is added to the list, we're gonna check out the configuration, the block settings for mobile check-in. And there's a couple ways that you can get to that page, but we're gonna navigate to it by accessing CMS configuration under the admin tools. And we'll go to pages. And for the external home page, under support pages, we have our mobile check-in launcher. Now you'll notice we have this URL built in that ships with Rock forward slash mobile check-in. So that'll be, the direct URL that you can use to access the page. And we're accessing it here now just to access the block settings. So I'm gonna edit those. If you've ever started a check-in kiosk, that on the very first page, you have to pick a theme and the configuration and the areas. And so this looks very familiar because it uses all the same fields. But what we want to pick in the enabled devices would be any of our virtual kiosks, anything that we set up for mobile check-in. And so in this case, we only have one, but you'll notice that we can list multiple. So you can use the same block on the same page to use mobile check-in for as many campuses as you need. And based on the geofence that we set up earlier, the block will know where the person is and which campus they're trying to check-in to. You can also set the theme, which here we're using check-in electric. The check-in configuration that we're going to use is the weekly service check-in, so but you can change that if you want, but this is just going to be our standard check-in configuration. And then we have the check-in areas. And, again, here you can list as many as you want, as many as you need based on the campuses and the areas that you want for those campuses. So just you'd list all of your campuses up here, you'll want to list all of the check-in areas here that you want to use. For our example purposes, I'm just going to stick with the, check-in test area. Then all you have to do is save, and we're pretty much ready to go. While we're here looking at the block, let's also go ahead and check out the block properties. The mobile check-in block can be used without ever needing to adjust these block properties, but it's important that that they're here and what options you have. So, for example, on the very first screen that the person sees the first time they use this process, they'll be given a choice between logging in using the login page or logging in using the phone identification page. Because the login block and the phone number lookup block can be placed on different pages, you have the option of adjusting these here. What we really wanna focus on are the customizable text fields that you see here, and there are a lot of them. Out of the box, the way these ship with Rock, these are written to best practices, but you can customize them if you want to. And as you'll notice, they're Lava enabled, so you can personalize and customize the content as much as you need. Just keep in mind that even though it is Lava enabled, at different points in this process, the system isn't gonna know who the person is. So for instance, our very first page here that asks to identify the person, you're probably not gonna wanna put the person's name in here because if we're trying to identify them, we don't know who they are, and so we don't know what their name is. And so, you'll want to use some common sense that if you're going to change these, but just remember where you're at in the process relative to the text that you're changing. And as you can see, there's a lot of options for each of the screens that the person could possibly encounter as part of the mobile check-in. So I haven't made any changes here, and I'm just gonna go ahead and cancel. And at this point, because of the block settings that we have set up, we're ready to start using the block. And that's pretty much all there is to setting up mobile check-in. Of course, that didn't take very long because all we needed to do was create a new device and then go in and update the block properties and the block settings for the mobile check-in block so it knows about the device. But there's a lot more that goes into it. We didn't go over how to get an API key for Google to use the map feature. We didn't go into the setting up check-in in general and getting those locations and things configured. We have all of that documented in other ROQ videos, and you can also reference our checking out check-in guide posted to the ROQ community site for more information.
