Rock U - Workflows - Launch Workflow From Grid

Running the same workflow one person at a time is busy work. Rock makes it super easy to select a list of people and launch a workflow for all of them at once to save you a ton of time. So to find a grid first, we're gonna head to people and then group viewer. Now this is just one of the many, many places with grids, but it's probably one you'll come across pretty often. So we're looking at the grid for the marble group here. There's all these people and we can simply pass this group of entities into a workflow easily by clicking that settings cog. Now you can see all these people are here. I can select a workflow type, and these are all the workflow types that will accept a person to be passed in. And then whenever we're ready, we can simply just launch it. But I'm gonna go back and show you one change you can make if you don't want workflows to be able to launch from certain grids. You'll just go to the block configuration and select custom grid options. Then under custom actions, you can click enable workflow launcher to no. Then if you saved that settings cog would go away, but we're gonna leave it. And I'll show you some things we can change about this workflow launcher. So from here, if we go to the block settings on this block, we can pick first of all, the workflow types that are available. So this is already respecting security, so you'll only see workflow types you're allowed to launch, but if you just wanna pick some specific workflows you want to show up here, you can select those. We're not gonna do that right now. You can also pick whether multiple workflow launches are allowed. So once you launch a certain workflow type, it will basically take you back to where you were, and you can select a new workflow type with the same group of people and you can repeat and repeat. Then you can also pick the icon we want to show up in the title here and the default number of items to show. So in this case, if there's more than 50 of an entity, there's 50 more than 50 people, it would stop once you get to 50 and then just have a number showing you the number of people that go over 50, basically. So it would say it would show all the people, then it would say plus 30 more, for example. But those are some settings that you can configure on the workflow launch block. Launching a workflow from the grid is one of the quickest ways to turn people into action, taking your workflows and putting them to work.
