The calendar event without a registration button is just an announcement. You can use linkages to link events to calendars, a specific registration instance, and a group so that you can get people registered for events. To understand linkages, let's look at this chart. So a linkage connects multiple different things, primarily an event instance with a registration instance, then potentially content items for promotion and then to a class as well. Now let's look at how to set one of these linkages up. So first of all, we'll go to the tools icon, then event registration, and we're going to go to the starting point template. And let's click on one of these older templates. Let's look at this one here and go to linkages. And you'll notice that under this tab, which you may not have been to before, but it's gonna be important for linkages. You can see the calendar item that we associated with this event and the public name for it. There's a lot more that we can add here if we go to edit. We can pick a group that's associated with this, and adding a group is nice because it helps you associate as people register or sign up for an event, they get put into a group. You can use that for things tracking, badges, and so much more because groups are so flexible. Then you can use a URL slug so that when someone types this in or when you have a nice URL for the, events page that will, be associated with this linkage. You can also pick the campus this applies to, and then again, the public name. Now there's multiple places you can add this, but this is just a first example. Let's go create our own. So we're actually gonna go to tools and then calendars, then public, and we're gonna look at the starting point event, which is one we created. When we come here, we have an event occurrence set up here, but let's add a new one. And we're not gonna get real specific with this event. We'll pick a schedule and let's say we want the start date time to be tomorrow. And this event will be three hours and we'll say that it recurs every other week, then the last week is gonna be quite a few Fridays from now. We'll keep that. Now you see this add linkage button here. If we come to add linkage, we can actually create the URL slug here, and this is really nice. We can have it be something starting point August, and that's actually the event we're gonna be linking here. Now we can pick a group and I mentioned groups earlier, but if we come to starting point, we have a starting point August group that I created for this purpose. Then we can use a registration instance. So we'll go to the starting point template and we're gonna pick the instance that aligns with what event we're setting up here. This will allow someone to register for this instance here and we can pick a public name of starting point August. Okay. Then we can save. And now we have that linkage. So we'll click save again. And just to show you that linkage, let's go to the event registration and we'll go to our starting point template. Then we'll click on that recent instance. And now this pops up in the linkages. And if you wanna go back and edit things, if you wanna add a content item or you want to change the campus, anything that, it's really easy to do from here. Now, actually the best place if you're going to add a content item is from the calendar event instance. Now let's go back and talk about some concepts with linkages that are helpful for you to extend registrations. So if you want to use linkages better, there's two ways you can do it. First of all, you can have one event, one registration instance, and then you can have multiple slugs. And that means you can give a link, to one set of people such as the girls in this case for this summer camp or to the boys. And when they sign up, they'll be signing up for the same registration instance, but they're actually gonna be placed in a different group, which makes it easier to track things. And that's really nice if you just wanna track those separately. Now, are some cases where you actually want two different instances and you want the same group. And say you want to track everyone in one group, but for instances, maybe there's something that's different between these demographics. if you have a different number of or if you have a different cap on the number of girls and the number of boys that can sign up for the summer camp. You can have different instances, but ultimately place everyone in the same group for linkage purposes and it just makes everything easier for you. Now let's go to the actual calendar just to show you what this looks . We've got that public event set up and I just refreshed. We can see that the starting point class has shown up here. And when we click into it, there's all those different instances that we set up because it's on a recurring schedule. And if we go to register, we will be registering for the 08/16/2026 registration that we set up. With a linkage in place, your event and your calendar work is one. So when people find out about an event, they can immediately go register for it.
