Mobile check-in configuration is actually pretty simple. It's mostly a matter of connecting the right pieces such as getting the link that you're gonna use for check-in, setting up the right groups, and more. So in this video, we'll step through an example of using this check-in for an event and you'll see how to set it up yourself. Let's get into it right now. To get started with mobile check-in, we're gonna go make sure that our devices are ready. And the way you find devices in Rock, one of the ways is to go to admin tools, then up to check-in. Click on that, then go to kiosk settings, click devices. Once we're here, we've got a list and I've actually already got one that I wanna show you and it's an example of a mobile check-in device. So I have it named virtual mobile main campus kiosk. And something to note is that for mobile check-in, we're gonna be using some geofences. And what that basically means is for each location where we have mobile check-in, we're gonna have one device per location and it will have the device type of check-in kiosk. Then as a prerequisite to this, you're going to want to make sure you have a Google Maps API key set up. And we have documentation on how to do that, so make sure to read that if you don't have a Google Maps API key. Basically, what that will do though is allow you to use location tracking. And in this case, we're utilizing location tracking to see when someone is in a geofence this geofence right now, which we've outlined. This is something you'll just wanna use to outline your campus or wherever someone's checking in, and I'll show you kinda how that works in a moment. But we have a pretty basic setup here. For print settings, we've just decided to say print using device printer, print from client, and I'll show you how we do printing later as well. But we have these things all set up. Again, you wanna make sure you have a geofence set up with that Google Maps API key and then you'll want to select locations and these are the locations that you'll be able to use with this device. In this case, I just went and added the entire main campus because we want people to do mobile check-in for any location at our main campus. And now I'll click save. We have this device ready. Now I'm gonna show you where we plug in this device for mobile check-in. Go to admin tools, settings, and we're gonna look for pages. Click on pages, then we're gonna go to the external homepage, support pages, and scroll. And out of the box, there's a mobile check-in launcher page, And it's really easy to find by just adding this slug to the end of your URL. It says mobile check-in. And all you need to know about this page is that it has a mobile check-in launcher block on it. And we're gonna edit the settings on this block. If you click edit, it will ask you to pick the enabled devices and these are the kiosks that are used for mobile check-in. So you'll wanna make sure that it's one that's got that geofence. We have that kiosk that we just set up. You can add multiple though if you have multiple campuses and you wanna use the same block across those campuses, that's a good way to handle it. Then pick a theme. One thing to note is check-in arrow and check-in electric are themes that we have set up specifically for mobile check-in. They look nice for mobile check-in. Then pick your check-in configuration and you'll wanna make sure that you actually have check-in set up already. We have a lot of great resources, documentation, and videos on how to set up check-in. So we've picked weekly service check-in, then you're gonna have to select the areas that you want people to be able to check into. In this case, I've got a test area, some other areas we have set up for this check-in type. Then if you want to, you can straight up disable the location services and you'll just be able to pick the campus you wanna check into instead. So I've clicked save here. We've got that block set up. And one other thing I wanna note is before you use this page, you wanna make sure that you have a certificate for your site, meaning that instead of your site being h HTTP, it should say HTTPS, which means that it's secured. And because we're doing things tracking location services, we require that your site be secured and have a certificate enabled to or in order to be able to use mobile check-in. Let's look at one more thing before we actually actually see how the check-in works. Click on settings here, the block properties, and you can pick some nice things for mobile check-in such as a workflow type to run and workflow activity, home page, all these other things, what happens after you check-in. Then something important is there's multiple different forms of login. You can either log in on your site's login page using whatever authentication providers you have set up or you can use phone identification. We have another video showing you how to do phone number lookup. So go watch that if you wanna find out how to use this block. Then for each part of the process, there's text that will be shown and you can edit this so that it looks more your organization. In fact, you can use Lava as well for a lot of these to say something here, for welcome back. If someone's already checked in once using mobile check-in and they're checking in again because you'll wanna note that Rock actually will remember once someone has checked in and make it easier for them to do mobile check-in in the future. It will say something , hi, current person nickname using Lava to personalize the message. You can personalize messages for all these different scenarios when the block can't determine your location because you do need to have authentication or sorry, location services turned on. Also, when no devices are found, no people, and no campus is found. We'll click save here. And just as an example, I'm going to go to Ted Decker's profile. And Ted Decker is the person we're gonna be logging in. I'm gonna take his phone number here and copy it, and we're going to head over to the actual mobile check-in page. Great. And now we're on the mobile check-in block as it would look using the check-in arrow theme, and we're on a phone that hasn't yet been authenticated, no one's logged in. So here we're given the option to either do phone number lookup or just a straight up login. I'm gonna pick phone number lookup to show you how seamless this can be. We'll put in Ted Decker's phone number, click lookup, and I'm given a six digit code. And that's all it took to get identified, and this is Ted Decker's account because we have multiple phone numbers or we have the same phone number on multiple accounts. So I'm just gonna pick Ted Decker, and it's asking for me to, just allow permissions for location. I've done that, and now it's getting my location and great. It says, hi, Ted. Great to see you back. Click check-in and now we get to the actual check-in process. So I can pick some different people, go next, select the locations. We'll put Noah in the bear's room, Alex in the puppy's room, Maddie in the bear's room, and we're asked for confirmation now, and there's a barcode, and that's really it. So we can click done here, and it's going to, this is what the screen will look once someone's been authenticated or checked in. We'll actually keep the QR code here for you because this is what you can use to get your labels scanned. So you've actually you've already been checked in at this point, but this QR code is something you can bring to an iPad that's running the Rock Check-in app. The iPad can scan it. I'll show you what that looks in a moment, and you'll be able to print the labels. Now you can also continue to check-in additional individuals and the same QR code will be kept, but we'll add more information to it such as the additional people that have been checked in and the rooms they've been checked into. Okay. As promised, this is what the check-in app looks on iPad, and there's an option to scan barcode. If you click that, you'll come to a screen this and you can just pull up to the QR code that's on someone's device, scan it, and those labels will be printed for check-in. Now you have mobile check-in configured. Just remember to test this on your own before the event so you can see what the attendees will see. Thank you for watching this video and have a great day.
