Rock U - Content Management - Rock Media Required Watching

Say you're using some of your Rock media for a training video and you don't want people to skip ahead because you want them to engage with the content. We'll talk about how you can track required watching and make sure people watch a specific amount of your video so they actually retain the information. There are two ways to require Rock Media watching. I'll cover both of them. The first is through a class. So if we go to people and then we go down to learn, we'll click into one of our programs we have, then I'll select the class and this is gonna be on the activity. So if you have a activity with a type of video watch, you when you're editing it or adding it, there's an option called completion threshold, and you'll select your video, all that, then you can pick what percentage needs to be watched before you can move on. I suggest that it would be somewhere between 75 to 95%. You don't wanna do a 100% because that will lock people into watching even the last few seconds of the video. If they click off early, they'll be a little bit confused why they can't complete the activity. But now if we hit save, that will be enforced. Another way we can do it is if you go to admin tools, then settings, we can look for a workflow. And if you're creating a workflow and you want to require media watching, that's pretty easy. I'll show you how. We have a workflow type I've set up as an example. If we edit this, you'll see that I have two attributes and one of those is called media watch. So if I edit it, all I needed to do is go to the field type, pick the media watch field type. It will have me pick a media element. So if you don't know how to set up an account or a folder and add media to Rock, I suggest you read our documentation or watch our videos, and we'll cover the way that you can set up an account. But I've picked an account folder and then specific media. Then we've set that completion percentage. On top of that, you can select auto resume in days. So if we set a threshold here, then basically you have this much time to go back and watch a video if you've already watched part of it and you wanna leave off where you ended last time. So if you watch half a video, you come back thirteen days later, you'll be able to start where you left off, and you'll be closer to that completion percentage. We can also pick the width of the video player. We can pick a smaller one if we want the video to be smaller in our form. Then this validation message shows up when you, when someone doesn't actually complete, watching the video, they'll see this. So we've got an activity and we've got an action of form, really simple action. We have person entry enabled, and we're just gonna go down to the fields. We have person and media watch, that attribute we added. We just made sure that it's visible, editable, and it's required, meaning you can't finish this until you finish the video. So we're going to save this. I'm actually gonna launch this workflow and we'll try it ourselves. So we've got the media here. Usually, this would be taller if you had a real video in here. This one isn't set up completely, but we can do person entry. I'll select who I am, then I'm going to try to fake it by skipping ahead and saying I watched the whole thing. I'll go to submit, and it says media watch is required, and that's because Rock is pretty smart. It knows when you haven't actually completely watched the video, you'll have to watch it to the completion percentage. Then when you go to submit, you'll actually get past this required step. Required watching puts the training where your process already is. Pick the percentage once and Rock will hold the line for you.
