Sometimes in Rock, you need to mark a group or an individual and you don't wanna create a formal attribute or end up editing someone's profile. Tags are the answer to that. These can be used in so many different ways. They're super flexible and you can actually filter on these in data views and just start categorizing people. And this can be helpful for things such as marking someone as being a part of a leadership pipeline or picking a group that you want to go sit in on. There's so many different ways you can use tags in Rock. So let's look into how to set up tags and use them right now. To see our first example of a tag in Rock, we're gonna head to a person profile. So we're going to Ted Decker's profile right now. And at the top of every person profile page, there's a little section where you can add tags. And Ted already has one. We've got an icon associated with it too. It simply says staff, and there's so much flexibility in what you would add here. So to give you an example, let's add one called summer camp leaders. And when I press enter, it says that this tag does not exist. Do you want to create a new personal tag? By default, they'll be added as a personal tag. And there you go. We can see it right there, and it's got a different shade. And by the way, you need to have access to view certain tags. It's up to you who has access to to add tags, to see them, and more. But let's look at how we can actually edit the tag and see who else is associated with a tag. To do that, we'll go to admin tools, then settings, and there's two things I wanna point out. First of all, tag categories. So if we click here, you'll notice it's a blank slate and it's easy to just add categories for the tags you have as you may have dozens and dozens and you wanna make sure that it's easy to sort through them. So just as an example, we added the summer camp leaders tag. Let's just add a category called summer camp, and we can pick an icon that makes sense and even a highlight color, which is really nice. So pick this lime shade and I've saved it. Now we'll go back and let's just look at settings again, type in tag, click on tags, and here is that tag we just added. You can even see the number of entities that it's on. Right now, it's just on Ted's profile. And we can see some out of the box ones as well and the scope. Now if I click on summer camp leaders, I can immediately see and search across, filter a big list of people. And let's say that also Alicia Marble is a person who is a summer camp leader. We're able to add her from here. And in a moment, I'll click on her profile and you'll see that it shows up. But if you want to change some attributes about the tag, just click edit. You can pick a description and this is nice if the name of the tag may be vague or you have quite a few tags and want it to be clear what the tag is used for. And something really nice is you can have a tag for any entity type, which means you can easily sort or categorize any sort of entity. So just keep that in mind. And you can pick some qualifiers if you want it to only be for certain for entities that meet certain qualifications and values. For example, you could say a person, and then you could have a qualifier such as age and the age has to be a certain value, but we're not gonna do that right now. You can also pick a background color for it, a specific icon, and let's see. Leader, we could just do user, and this looks a leader sort of. Then we can pick our category, that summer camp one we just created. And if we want this to be something that everyone in the organization can see, you can do that here. And when you switch from personal to organizational, you can you either in the personal mode pick an owner for who sees this tag or organizational, it doesn't really matter. And we'll save. Now I'm gonna click on Alicia Marlowe's profile and there you go. We can see that tag here. We know it's organizational because of the color, and we can see the icon that we created. Again, this is just a really great easy way to categorize and group any sort of entity in Rock. Great. And now you have tags that you can use in all kinds of different ways such as setting up a communication list, filtering for a certain group of people, and much more.
