Sometimes the information you gather isn't just for an individual person, but it might be relevant for the whole family. For example, the neighborhood that they're in, how long this family has been attending, their primary language, and a lot more. So I'll show you how to add and manage family attributes right now. To see family attributes, it's super simple. Go to a person's profile, scroll, and you'll see the family section here. Now we have just one attribute right here. It says foster family yes. And if we click edit, we'll have a little dialogue pop up and we can change the values for these family attributes. But we've got foster family set to yes here and I'll show you how we can add another attribute. So if you go to admin tools, then settings, and we're actually gonna look for group types. That's because family is a group type under the hood. So we're gonna search for the family group type, click on it, and then we're gonna go down to the group attributes. Immediately, you can see that attribute that we've already created. This is simply a group attribute and we're gonna add a new one. Let's call it foster home inspected. And there's so many different examples of attributes you could add for a family, it just depends on what's relevant to your organization, what makes sense to track for a family. But we're just going to add this attribute for now. You can pick whether it's public and if you pick it to be public, then if there's a place where you can see a person or a family's profile externally, you'd see this here. But if you just wanna track this internally, leave this unchecked. You can also pick an abbreviated name and a description, and descriptions are super helpful just so that other people know what you're using this attribute for. You can also pick from categories that you have set up to categorize this attribute. And we need to pick a field type that makes sense here. You can pick all kinds of field types depending on the information you're storing such as text, but we're gonna pick boolean because this is more of a true false type scenario. And let... Just to make this more clear, let's say foster home has been inspected so that if someone were to pick yes, we'd know that means their home has been inspected. And you can pick different control types. Let's just pick a checkbox here that makes most sense. And this key is something you can use if you ever wanna access the attribute through Lava or in a workflow or for other purposes. But we can pick whether this is required. Also, can pick whether we want to show this on bulk, meaning if you're doing a bulk update, you'd be able to update this attribute. Say you just had a big list of families have their foster home inspected, we could do a bulk update if you were to select this. Also, show in grid. If there's a more important family attribute that you want to show up without having to click a little drop down arrow on the family section of a person profile, then you would want to pick show in grid. We're gonna leave it unchecked though. You can also do some things to personalize or customize this this attribute. For example, we could say this if we wanted to have tabular icon show up next to this attribute. And once we're done, we'll click save. Then we need to save this group type and we'll head right back to Ted's profile. We'll scroll down and you'll see we just have the same attribute that was there before, but if we click the drop down, we can see that new attribute. And the reason it wasn't shown here is because we didn't have show in grid selected Because this is something we probably don't need to see as often, we'll just leave the essentials shown in grid. And again, if you wanna edit it, you can click this edit button and you can change the value for this family attribute. You can see that it's been changed here. Great. Now family level data is part of your system and you can use it to better track what a family looks or save information that's relevant to the families that affect your organization.
