Rock U - Additional Engagement - Streaks

Sometimes the most powerful thing that you can do for engagement is just track it. Now streaks and Rock give you an opportunity to track things such as weekly attendance, group attendance, and more. You can define different kinds of streaks and you can use these as a way to see who's engaging consistently and who might need to check-in. So let's get into how to set it up right now. Okay.
Let's find the streaks and then create a new streak type. So head over to people, then head down to streaks and click on that. You'll notice we've already got a streak type out of the box, but we're gonna click the plus button and add a new one. And this one's gonna be called marble group attendance. And that really sums up what we're gonna track here.
But if if it's vague, the thing that you're tracking or you just want a nice way to tell other people what this streak type is about, it's nice to add a description. We're gonna make sure this is active and then start date. So start date is actually really important with streak types. And that's because maybe you thought that you could only track streaks going into the future, but we can actually track streaks based on past data. So I'm gonna go back to a date in the past, click on that, and we're gonna use real Rock data to get some streak information.
And the way we get that information is based on the linked activity we pick. So there's many different linked activities. For example, we have attendance, and attendance is usually connected to a group. And a check-in configuration here is another option, even a group type purpose. Then if you wanna track streaks for something different, you can do streaks for different sorts of interactions.
That means you could connect a streak to something someone viewing a specific page or component or site and more. So you can get really specific. Also financial transactions, so you could even celebrate someone being a consistent giver. There's so many different streaks you can track. In this case though, for the marble group, we're just gonna pick group and then we're gonna go find her group and there we go.
Now sync link activity. This is important if you want a few less manual steps. Say, when you change something on the actual streak type, you mark that someone engaged on a certain day, you want that information to sync with our activity, then you would wanna turn this on. So if we marked that Ted Decker attended on a certain day, it will actually update his attendance record. And when an attendance record changes, it will update our streak engagement map, which I'll talk about the engagement map in a moment.
Also require enrollment. So if you wanna manually track streaks for new people, you can add these people yourself. Or if you want attendance to just happen manually, so say a new person joined the Marble group and had an attendance record, then they would automatically be enrolled unless we turned on require enrollment, but we're not gonna do that. Then each streak has a frequency. So we know in this case that the Marble group meets weekly on Wednesdays.
So the only days that will be tracked as occurrences are Wednesdays every week. And now we'll click save. And you may be wondering why there's no information here yet, and that's because we have this special rebuild button. This rebuild button works for the entire streak type or also on an individual person, you can do a rebuild. And, essentially, what this is doing is it's taking the linked activity and, the start date and it's calculating people's streaks based on the actual data.
So let's just click rebuild and it will say, are you sure you wanna delete this data? Because say you've manually entered some things that don't align with, the actual attendance data you have, that would be overwritten. So be careful, but we've clicked okay. Now I'm gonna restart, and there we go. We've got a bunch of streaks here already based on real attendance for Alicia's group.
So we can see an engagement chart right here showing the weeks that were attended, the weeks that weren't attended, what the current streak is, longest streak, number of engagements, when they were enrolled, then you can even click on their person profile or to or you can delete them. Now I'm gonna cover a couple things that have to do with the entire streak type first. One of them is achievements. So if I click on achievements, you can create achievement types in Rock. We have documentation on this, so I suggest you read up on it if you wanna learn more.
But these basically group something a streak in this case, that's the achievement type we have. And we have some sort of metric ten weeks in a row. And I believe we have people that have done that. So if you click here, we can actually see all the people and their progress towards this achievement across a bunch of different things. But we'll head back to our streaks and the streak type.
So there are some people that will be they'll be up for that achievement such as Brian Peterson. He's attended more than ten weeks in a row, and that's one of our achievement types. Then the map editor. So this is where we get into streak maps. There's multiple different kinds.
Right now, we're looking at an occurrence map, and basically, we'll pick a date range. And everything that's checked here is an actual occurrence that happened. So let's say that for everyone, we want to note that May 10 didn't happen. We didn't really meet on that week. So when I save here, it'll tell me that I saved successfully, and that means that that occurrence won't be tracked.
On top of that, you can do exclusions, and we can add a new exclusion here. Now each exclusion you can associate with a location if you'd to, but we're gonna skip that. And the exclusion is just pulling up this exclusion map. This is a different sort of streak map, and we can pick days where we're basically giving everyone an excused absence. Let's say that July 5, we don't want that to be a part of the tracking data.
Maybe there was a weather event, people couldn't make it or a lot of people couldn't make it even though the group was still on. That means it won't mess with someone's streak. So we will head back here and that date was July 5. And now that won't be tracked for people, And let's look at individuals. So we can see all the individuals here.
We can easily search through them, but I'm gonna give an example of manually adding a new person or enrolling them. Let's say we wanna track for Ted Decker. And Ted Decker, he just joined this group or we we want to, for some reason, track him with, this attendance streak. And we'll say that his enrollment date was in the past so that we can simulate a little bit of what it looks to change his engagement. So since the day, he was added, we've got a couple different occurrences that happened, and we can pick whether or not he engaged.
We can also pick days to exclude for him. So again, you can rebuild if you wanna pull real data for attendance. We're not gonna do that on Ted though because he actually doesn't have any real attendance data right now, so this would kinda remove anything we add here. But let's say he attended on these days and we want to say he's excluded from this. As the leader, I'm saying he gets an unexcused absence here.
No one else does, just him. We'll save it. I'm gonna exit, and there we go. Now we can see, Ted Decker's attendance, what it looks . He's engaged.
He's been a part of the group, And now everything's looking good, and we can start tracking streaks on people for all sorts of different things. And you can also manually update information, And a lot of this Rock will do for you. So it's really easy to track streaks and see how people are engaging. Now that you've got these streaks set up, just remember to check them out from time to time and see who's engaging consistently or who you may need to check up on. Thanks for watching this video.
