Okay. So let's now talk about the concept of placement groups. Now in event registration, usually at the end you can have the registrants dump into a group of your choosing. Sometimes though you wanna wait and do that later. So maybe you have a sports ministry that you wanna place people on teams but you don't have the teams created yet or maybe it's a camp and you wanna assign people to cabins or buses after the fact.
Placement groups help you do that in a in a really quick way. So let's go ahead and take a look. Okay. So in this case, we have a summer camp and we have an instance and this is an event registration. Okay.
So we go into our event registration instance of summer camp twenty seventeen And we have registrants already here. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna go over to this placement group tab. Now, if this isn't showing up for you, you need to go up to your template and enable the placement group option on your template. And once you do, then this tab will show. Okay.
So what happens is you come in here and you pick a parent group. So in this case, camp buses. And then for each of the registrants, it's gonna allow you to pick a group that's under the parent of camp buses. Okay? So it allows you to come in here and say, okay, Alex, that's a girl, so that's bus one.
Noah is bus two. And Brian, that's a boy, that's bus two also. And then when you hit place, it'll go ahead and place those individuals into those groups. Now notice what happens here too is I only have three registrants. So maybe I'm working ahead here and now maybe a few days later four more come.
So only the people who aren't already in a group under this parent group will actually show up. Okay. And that's really cool. Now for some reason you need to move people out of a bus, you have to go over to the group and take them off that bus and again they'll show up in here. Now, what's really cool about this also is it's not a one time thing.
So you can actually pick, different, parent groups. So now if I wanna put them in a certain cabins, it gets come back and said, okay, well, these none of these three registrants are in a cabin yet, so let's go ahead and pick their cabin. Okay. So, Alex is a girl, so let's put her in a girl cabin. So the deer.
And so Noah's a boy, so maybe he goes in eagles. And Brian's a boy, so we'll we'll just put him in hawks. And then you can go ahead and place. Again, they're they're gone now. So I can wait for more registrants to come in and I can keep processing them.
If I made a mistake, I just take them out of that group and, they'll be gone. So now if I go over to my, group viewer and we're to look at the cabins, I could go into Hawks and see Brian here. And just as to cement that in, if I were to delete him out of this, I can go back to my event registration, click on the instance, go to group placement, and now he's back. And I can go ahead and pick, a different one. So that's group placements.
Knowing about it and then just thinking about how you can best use it, I think you'll find it can save you a ton of time, in your event registrations.
