Rock U - Data - Automations

Who doesn't when someone does something for you? And guess what? Rock wants to do something for you. With automations, there are a bunch of tasks that you can set and forget, and they'll run-in the background for you such as data being updated, your team being notified, a workflow being run, and more. So let's look at how to set up automations now. Let's create an automation. So go to admin tools and settings, then type in automations. And we're gonna add a new one by clicking the plus button, And let's call it call it status change attendee to member. And what this is gonna do is we're adding the trigger first. Now the trigger for an automation is the series of conditions that need to be met for an automation to run. And you'll see in a moment, we'll set up the events that run when an automation is triggered. But for this attendee to member to work, we'll start by picking a trigger type, and you can do a chat message or entity change. We're gonna do an entity change here. For more on the other trigger types, please see our documentation. Pick entity change. We're gonna pick an entity type here. It will be person, then we will say trigger on something changes. And we want all these rules to be true because we're gonna set the criteria. The criteria will be when the connection status value ID changes from 146 to 65. And we'll save this, and these are the connection status value IDs for an attendee and a member. Then we're also gonna add another criteria, which is for age classification, and we will say of adult. Great. Okay. And this is a simple criteria, but you can set up advanced criteria if you want to use the dynamic link syntax. And if you wanna do that, just check out our documentation on the community site under developer resources for the dynamic link syntax. But we're gonna keep this simple, and we're gonna save this trigger. Okay. Now we have trigger conditions or the trigger criteria ready. So we know when this is gonna launch, but let's define what happens when this launches. And we'll pick the event type of launch workflow, and we get a couple merge fields we can use here if you want to be specific about what's going into this workflow, but we've got one set up. And it's simply just a new member workflow, and we'll call it new member. But if you want, you can use Lava in this so that there is dynamic naming. But we're gonna add this event. Then let's add another event. And if you didn't get to see the event types that you wanted to learn more about here, please read our documentation for more detail on each individual event type. Now we're gonna pick lava event, and I've got a lava event here that is going to and membership note to the person that just became a member so we get some valuable information on them that we can use in the future. There we go. We don't have to click save again. We have our automation set up right away where when someone goes from an attendee status to member, we launch a new workflow, and we have a nice lava event that makes some person attributes for them. I hope you have a bit more time on your hands now that you've set up a couple of automations and about triggers and events. It's up to you to decide what you're gonna do with all this free time, so have a great day.
