Rock U - Groups - Group Administrator
Transcribed Video Content
Groups are a very important part of Rock, a very critical element within the Rock system. And for each group, you can assign, if you want, a group administrator. The group administrator doesn't necessarily have to be a member of the group. They don't necessarily need to participate with the group. It's more or less a point person or a point of contact for the group, or somebody who perhaps assists with administrating the group.
And so, we're going to go over how to enable administration for groups, and how to set a group administrator. And so, we're going to head to the admin tools, and we're going to go into general settings, and we're going to check out the group types. And I'm going to go down, I'm going to use the serving team group type. And the first thing I'm gonna do is pop open the general settings. And there's a lot of settings here, but what we're really concerned about here is the show administrator down here at the bottom, and I'm going to select yes.
And then I'm going to go all the way down to the display options. And, again, there's a bunch of settings here, but the one that we are interested in for our purposes is the administrator term. And you can choose a different word to use for your group's administrator. So instead of administrator, maybe we'll put manager because they're managing the group. You can put whatever you want.
And I'm gonna go ahead and save those changes for my serving team. Now, we can head over to the group viewer, and here are my serving teams. I'm gonna pull up the children's serving team. And you can see there's no administrator listed here, no manager listed here either, which is what we changed it to. And so we're going to add one for this specific group.
So I'm going to click on edit. And from there, we're going to look at the general settings. And you'll see right here, manager appears and not administrator because I had it changed. And so we're gonna pick a manager, and I'm gonna pick I'm gonna pick Ted Decker because we use Ted a lot. And so I'm gonna assign Ted as the manager, also known as the administrator, and I'm gonna go ahead and save that.
And when I do, now when I come and look at the group itself, you can see that the manager administrator, however you want to call it, has been added to the front page so that you can see it immediately when you pull up that group in the group viewer. And it's as easy as that. All you need to do to start administrating groups is to enable a group administrator on each of the group types that you want to be able to assign an administrator to, and then go to the groups themselves and assign an individual to be the administrator. It doesn't get much easier than that. Thanks for watching, and be sure to check out our other Rock Your videos.
