Rock U - Steps - Steps Overview

Many things in life consist of a series of small steps, and we know that it's no different for your spiritual journey. So Rock uses steps to help you track where people are at in their spiritual journey and much more. So let's get into what steps look in Rock. First of all, at the top level of the steps hierarchy are step programs, And these programs are customizable, but there are two that come out of the box with Rock, and those are the discipleship path and core steps. We'll talk more about core steps later, but let's follow the discipleship path. So next layer of the hierarchy is step types. And within a program, there are many different types. Once you complete those step types, you've completed the program. And for the discipleship path program, the step types that come by default are baptism, the starting point class, serve, and small group. So this is what we're expecting someone to complete before the program is done for them. And we'll go deeper into the step program and step types in a future video and what that configuration looks . But now let's look at some really simple configurations such as when you add a step type, you'll have a name, a description, you can pick a highlight color so it's easier to distinguish between the step types. And same with an icon, you can do that as well. Now imagine you have your program created and you also have your step types created, it's time to get people enrolled in steps. And we can quickly have multiple people set as complete or in progress for a step by using the bulk entry form of step entry. Now there's multiple different ways to do step entry, but first you can see bulk entry where you just pick a step type, status, when the start date of the step was, and the person or people that, did this step. Now another way to do step entry which is more specific and it's just one person at a time is you actually go to someone's person profile, click on the steps tab, and there's a super simple beautiful view where you can just click and add a step for whichever step type someone's completed. And this is super fast, very easy. Now once you've done that, you want to be able to easily see where people are at in a program and you can do that by looking at someone's profile. Again, on the steps tab, you can see what they've completed and what they're still in progress or haven't completed for. And in this example with Ted Decker, you can see that he's been baptized, he's attended the starting point class, and he served, but he hasn't done a small group yet. Now I mentioned, we would go back to earlier, has a concept called core steps and these are essential milestones that we've decided we want to make sure you use in your steps. And that means that these can't be deleted. There are a couple that come out of the box and those are baptism, small group, serve, and ERA. We believe that these are essential to tracking steps in your organization. Now that's it for steps. There's a lot more to learn about steps, but we'll cover that in other videos. So please watch our other videos on the topic when you get a moment. Thanks for watching.
