Rock U - Groups - Group Placement Options
Transcribed Video Content
You may be familiar with Rock's group placement tool and how it's used within event registration, but maybe you'd be happy to know that you can actually use it anywhere in Rock where there's a group to make placement simpler and faster. I'll show you how to use it right now. We're gonna go to people then the group viewer, and we're gonna click on serving teams. And I want you to imagine this hypothetical scenario. So imagine we're looking at the greeters team, and it's just full of people.
In fact, the leader reached out to us and said he wants to move some of the people on his team to a different serving team. That's something that could be overwhelming as an admin because there's all these changes to make. There's a lot of people that we have in one group, and we wanna move them to another. But in Rock, anywhere where there's groups, you can use the group placement tool. The one thing you wanna note is that the group you're moving from, which is called the source group, must be in the same group type as the destination group, which is the group that you're moving to.
So this scenario is perfect because we're under the serving teams group type. We're gonna move greeters to some other serving teams. So looking at this group, there's all these buttons we can pick from. We're gonna click on the one that looks a backward z, and this is for group placement. So there we go.
We can see we've got all the people that are in this group ready to place, but there's no destination group yet. So we're gonna click add group, and we're gonna add all child groups. There's many different ways you can do this. I suggest that you watch our other video on group placement if you wanna learn more in-depth on this tool and filtering and more, but we're just gonna do this. We're gonna add the serving teams.
There we go. All the destination groups are filled out, and every one of those serving teams minus the greeters group is now here and ready to be placed in. And so that no data integrity issues arise, you already have the people populated that are in different groups, meaning you're never gonna double place someone. But just to make it easy, I'll show you. Let's say Phil Coffee has decided he's gonna spend some time on the AV team.
You can just drag him. There you go. He's been moved. And I'll show you that this is the case. Phil Coffee, AV team.
We'll go back to people in the group viewer. We'll go to serving teams, then the AV team. There you go. Coffee has been added. And just so , if we go to the greeters again, Phil Coffee is still here as well.
When you move someone from one group to another, they aren't archived in that group or removed. They're just added into multiple groups. And with that, one great thing about the group placement tool is everything happens in real time, so you don't need to do any saving. It'll happen for you automatically. Now you can see group placement can be used all over Rock wherever there's a group.
I hope this is saving you some valuable time. And if you'd to learn more about group placement, please watch our other Rock U videos. Thank you.
