In the learning management system, programs are a collection of courses and classes that all provide educational content. Let's get into how to set up a program. Now we're on the Rock home screen, and we're gonna go navigate to people, down to learn. And we have no programs right now, but we're gonna create our first one. Start by clicking plus, and we're gonna name this program volunteer onboarding.
And to make it easier for people to understand what this program's about, we're gonna add a summary, and we're going to make it public right off the bat. We're going to select on demand learning as the configuration mode because we want students to be able to access this program at any point. You can add a category to make it easier to find this program, and it's important to add an icon so that students can get an idea of what program they're looking at. And it's really nice to add an image. I'll show you later where you can see this image.
Then to see some advanced settings, we'll look here. You can pick the grading system you wanna use. More on that later. You can track program status, which means that the date that students start or end this program will be tracked. Also, you can pick what email template is sent when a new activity is available, and you can select what workflow runs when the program is completed, but we're not gonna do any of that right now.
We're going to look over at the description. This is another tab where you can say something this and let your students know what this program's about. Then when you're ready and you're happy with your program, it's that easy. You can click save, and we are going to move on to the next layer, which is a course. Okay.
So adding our first course here for the volunteer onboarding program, we're gonna name it first aid and safety teaching volunteers about safety. These summaries are important because it'll remind you later as well what this course is about. And you can have a different internal name and external name for your course if you'd . You can also add a category here. We're gonna add an image.
And if you ever wanna have a prerequisite for a course, this is how you'd add one. You'd be able to click it here, and you can pick whether it's prerequisite or an equivalent so that people can traverse through a series of courses in a way that makes sense depending on the education you're providing. Then there are some advanced settings as well. If you'd to specify the course code such as first aid safety one zero one, for example. You can also pick the maximum number of students that can be in this class, what workflow runs when this course has been completed by a student, and whether a student can come back and look at the course once they've completed it.
Click save. There we go. Here is our first course. And because we're in on demand mode, we're gonna keep going. And, actually, there will be a class that's made for you without you having to do anything.
Makes it very simple. You can add another if you'd , but we're gonna go in and edit this class. Alright. Now we're looking at the class. I'm just gonna rename it the same thing as the course, which is first aid and safety.
This will teach you first aid. And if you'd , you can pick a schedule that you have configured for this class, but this class is on demand, so it's not necessary. You can also add a location if this is gonna be an in person class. You can pick which campus that this class is being run out of, the grading system. And in the advanced settings, again, you can pick the number of maximum students for this class, and it's active and public.
Gonna save it. And we don't have anything in this class right now, but I am going to go and show you what this looks now. Go to home, then our external website, the learn tab. Here you go. Here is the first program, and we can see that description and the image that we added earlier.
You can click learn more. You can see the course and here you go. This is what the student would see if they're looking at your program, your course, your class you've made, and you can actually enroll from here as well. Okay. Thank you for watching this video.
I hope you're able to successfully set up your program, and I'll see you in the next video.
