Rock U - Groups - Group Placement in Event Registration

Sometimes you'll have people register for events that require groups to be formed from the registrants such as sports teams or summer camps. This is where Rock's group placement feature comes in handy. Let's take a look at it. Before we get into the actual group placement process, I wanna show you that in our group viewer, we have two groups set up for summer camp cabins, the bears and the eagles. Okay. Let's walk through how to actually place registrants into groups. The first thing you need to do is enable group placement in your registration template. So let's go find our registration template. That will be under tools, under event registration. I'm going to use the summer camp template and I'm going to click edit so I can modify my template. Now under the details section, if you scroll down a little, you'll see there's this allow group placement checkbox. If I check that box, it gives me an additional tab on my registration instance where I can do the group placement. So I have that checked. I'm going to click save. And then I'm going to go to my summer camp registration instance. And you'll see down here, I have a group placement tab. And we have a couple of registrants ready for summer camp here. If you notice actually, I'm gonna click on that group placement tab. Notice the checkbox here for set group member attributes. Checking this box tells Rock to copy all of the registrant attribute values to the group member attribute values if they both have the same key. So, for example, say Noah Decker, our registrant, has an attribute value for shirt size and that attribute key is shirt size. If your cabin groups also have a shirt size attribute with the same key, when you process the group placements with that set group member attribute option checked, Noah's shirt size value will be copied over to the group he's placed in. Okay. Let's place Noah into a cabin. You'll see under the parent group, have my parent group of summer camp selected. And over here is a group drop down. I'm going to put Noah into the bear's cabin and click place. And you'll see Rot tells me registrants were successfully placed in the selected groups. So now Noah is in the bear's cabin.
