Rock U - Event & Calendar - Event Attributes
Transcribed Video Content
In Rock, you can add attributes to just about anything, including events. So let's check out how we can add some attributes to events and to event occurrences. To get the ball rolling, we're going to head to Tools, and under Website, we are going to look at Calendars. Now, here we have two event calendars, internal and public. I'm going to go ahead and use the public calendar.
And this is really our first stop for event attributes, because if we edit the public calendar, now this is the high high level because this is the calendar, you see here that we have event attributes. And there's already a couple added. We have Twitter photo and Facebook photo. So as , these are image attributes. So we're not going to add any new attributes to this just yet because there's some already here.
So bear in mind that we have Twitter photo and Facebook photo as event attributes that are at the at the high level tied to the public calendar. I'll go ahead and save. Why not? Now, those attributes are global to the public calendar, which means that they'll appear for any of the event items that we have, which means those photo attributes are already attached to the Custom and Classics car show, the Rock Solid Finances, the Warrior Youth event. They're all already there.
And in fact, we're gonna check them out right now. So I'm gonna click on the Customs and Classics car show, and I'm gonna open up that event. And if I edit it and scroll down, you can see we have two items here. Up at the top, we have the event attribute values, which come from the public calendar. And here we have our Twitter photo and our Facebook photo.
And you'll notice that we can't add or remove these because, again, it's sort of set at the global higher level. But for our specific car show, we can add a vet occurrence attributes. And these would be specific to the car show and not to anything else under that public heading. And so let's go ahead and add one. And I'm not going to be very creative with this.
I'm just going to add in testing because we want to know, are we testing? And we're not really testing, but we'll say that we are. And I'm gonna make this pretty simple, I said. So we'll pick a boolean field type, we can just have a yes or no. And I'll set a default value to yes.
Of course, as with any attribute, there's other settings and categories. You can attach an icon CSS class to it, things that, but we're just gonna keep it simple for now and save. And so here we have our event occurrence attribute in addition to our event attributes. And so I'm going to make sure and save here as well. And so now, when I come down to the event occurrence and click that, we can see that we have our testing attribute here.
And, of course, I can go to edit, and I can go down to attribute values, and I can alter the value that I have here for that attribute for this specific event occurrence. Now if I wanted to upload a photo, I would have to go back to the slightly lower level, click the Edit button, and then come down to the Event Attribute values that we saw. And then here, I could upload a file directly. And so, that's how you add an Event Occurrence attribute or an Event Item Occurrence attribute. And we just use some basic examples, uploading a photo, a Boolean yesno response.
But, of course, as , with attributes, there's a lot more options. And so we encourage you to go out and explore. Check out the other videos. Check out the documentation that we have posted. And thanks for watching.
