Rock U - Finances - Text Giving

Just about everybody has a cell phone on them these days. So when it comes to giving, we're gonna meet the people where they are. In this video, we're gonna look at text giving and how it works. It all starts with the registration. When a person first texts a giving keyword to your SMS pipeline, they'll get a reply containing a link to the registration page. The registration page is where people go to complete the one time setup that's needed to give by text. The registration page, also known as the setup page, is pretty simple. And of course you'll want to check out the block settings to make sure you're collecting all the information you need from the person who's giving. But then once the setup is complete, going forward, all the person needs to do is text a keyword and an amount and that's it. And they can give just that easily. Now this is done through the utility payment entry block and there's a couple of settings that you need to know about for text giving. The first one is that you wanna set enable multi account to no, because we can only give to one account at a time for text giving. And then, if you select an account, it should be the same account as on the SMS pipeline, which we'll look at shortly. Then on the advanced settings of the block settings, down at the bottom, we need to enable the text giving mode. So we've already seen the utility payment entry block settings and we've done that, but now we're gonna check out the SMS pipeline setup which is critical for text giving. And to get there, we're gonna go to admin tools and communications and then to SMS pipeline. We're just gonna go ahead and use the default pipeline that's there. Alright. Now, you can see that at the top of our pipe pipeline here, we have a give action. So let's take a look at, some of the options that we have here. You have some of the standard SMS pipeline options the name, whether or not it's active, if it should continue after being met, phone numbers that you should filter on, but it's down here starting with giving that we get into the text giving setup. So the first thing there is the give keyword and this is a comma separated list of words that the person can text to give. There's also a keyword for setup if they need to go back to that, setup page that we saw earlier in the slide show. You can also set a maximum gift amount. So if you don't want people to give over a certain amount through text giving, you can set that here. And here you can also choose the financial account. And again, we recommend that it be the same one that you chose on the utility payment entry block. Then lastly is the setup page. So where where do they go when they text that keyword setup? Rock ships with one, but you could have them go to a different page if you wanted. Moving down, we have the refund keyword. And so the refund keyword is refund. There's also a processing delay associated with that, in minutes. So, in this case, it'll wait ten minutes before actually performing the refund as kind of a safeguard. And then below that, we have the response options and you can customize those, even using Lava. And this just covers a variety of situations that the person may find themselves in, and so these messages will be sent to them as a response. So for example, if we tried to refund them but couldn't, they would see this response. Or if they texted a key a keyword for giving but didn't put an amount, we have a response for that. So pretty much anything that could happen to somebody in the process, we have a message for it. And don't forget, Rock is pretty flexible when it comes to the dollar amounts. Someone can text 100 and that works just as well as texting dollar sign 100. Or even if they add a decimal at the end, Rock will pick it up.
