So as Spark Development Network and ROCCRMS, we are here to tell you what's going on. And I think probably the last time you heard from us was pre Rx twenty twenty two. So we're very excited to have a wrap up today, and that will be primarily what we're talking about. I'm Emily Forman. We have Jon Edmiston and Nick Airdo here for a great conversation with you today.
All right, Nick, we've been hard at work. It's hard to believe that our development team had a break at all for the conference because things have kept moving for sure. Tell us where we're at. Yeah, we have continued to work on basically 14.1, but at the moment 14 is in beta. So we extended beta to match what was talked about on the stage at RX, and beta is getting another round of testing, but we're expecting it to be out of beta, I think on the, what was the date?
The tenth, the eleventh. So depending on when this podcast goes out, it may or may not be live 14 with all the features. And then there's some big features and updates in 14.1 right behind. Yes, we will not be sitting around doing nothing in the meantime. And of huge thanks to our testing team.
Mean, goodness, the amount of work that they've been doing all together with our team in trying to move this forward is huge. They've been absolutely incredible. Yeah, we really them because I should add that we are also alpha testing 13.7, and I think that may have just went to beta as well. So there's two back to back big releases for people. And even 14 was challenging because there's lot of new features.
So the alpha testing of 14 was very comprehensive. And you said, took a lot of time and effort. So we really appreciate that. The teams have been super rigorous in all the help lately. We have definitely kept the challenges coming.
So great job. Nice work community. Cheers. There's a cheers button here. There should be.
But there might be. I just need to figure out what's You need to work on that, Nick. I do. All right, John, what else are we doing? So lots of other stuff going on.
I mean, we kind of say it a lot, but by the time a release is here, we're already off to the other one and sees , oh, 14, this is old news to us, old features. So we're already working on a lot of the new features. Some of the ones that we talked about the conference, the reminders, and lots of other things are already on the move. And a lot of really cool features we didn't talk about that we weren't ready to talk about and still probably aren't, and still some that we're looking for funding, but there's just a lot of stuff moving forward. A lot of work has been being done on the content library, which was a feature we talked about.
I would just put out a placeholder. If you have a content that you believe your church would be willing to share with the big C church, with just releasing it, , hey, everybody can use this. We'd love to talk to you. We have a lot of details that we can go over about some of our thoughts, but we're still And the more we talk with people, the more clear those thoughts get , oh, okay, that's a good point. We can change this, do that.
We're talking about strategy from even my content and SEO strategy. what does this mean from an SEO standpoint? We are very aware of those challenges, but actually some of those challenges aren't as challenging as first thought. So a lot of stuff going on to that. We're also just spending a lot of time on the implementation of version 14 features.
So it's exciting to think about, okay, now that we have this tools, what can we build with our toolbox here? And, last week I had a little bit of opportunity to kind of think through that and be ideating on that. And that was really exciting. And was actually kind of fun. , I don't often have a couple hours to think about something, but it also led to a whole bunch of new features that we want to put in to enhance, , already we're seeing ways that we can make these features even better.
It's kinda , , your parents bought you a toy and all of sudden you want the next toy and you enjoy this toy. , it's good. It's a good toy, but you're already thinking about, oh, now I need the matching, , whatever it is for my GI Joe. And I can see how that could lead to some depression in parents, Oh, I just bought you that. And it's , but that's the way we run.
That's always innovating. And we're really excited. We've had some conversations with some churches who wanted to know more about some of these strategies and stuff. Super excited about that. Also, we've been working on obviously Apple TV.
Yes. It's been really encouraging and fun to watch some people in the community start to actually play with it themselves. And their feedback has been amazing. They feel quickly they're getting it, and the power of lava that they already possess within their body, they can now use that power of lava to make Apple TV apps. And so we've This is really the magic, I think, Rock and what I love is that we can build some tools that other people can stand on those tools and those shoulders and do amazing things and feel they have superhero powers.
And that's exactly what we want to do. Rock's not about making Rock amazing, Rock's about making everybody who works at church amazing. Can I jump in on the Apple TV? It segue to RX as well. If you have the content subscription, you can download the core app and you can watch the content from RX right there on your TV.
It's awesome. It's so convenient. Yeah. And I actually, Alna, I made them there are really some really rough lava templates just so we can see some metrics of how people are interacting with the community app, how many page views and who's doing it, because some people are logged in, Nick, you are logged in and actually your wife logged in, I noticed. I was trying to get her to learn more Rock.
I was Very cool. It was cool to see your wife had actually logged into the Apple TV app, so see, I know that. But just, I can see who's watching those videos. It's fun that you're watching them, but we're watching, you watch them. Not not live.
No. No. There's no camera. Live. We're not watching you live.
But we are watching your views of of that, and it's encouraging, and it helps us. And honestly, truth here, as I'm building those templates, it ideates , oh, I don't want to just see page views, I want to see the media views tied to those page views. And so it's causing us to do some quick, refactoring, but some quick changes to data alignment so that, yeah, we can definitely see, and certainly see the medias that you're watching, but we want to tie those to the actual pages and session views that we can say, hey, this person looked at these pages, but interacted with this media. And that's what they'll be able to do if they have the Apple TV app for their Rock. Right.
Exactly. Their stuff, their content. So it's kind of fun because we use this ourselves and then we ideate and then everybody's, it's a win This is the best, awesomeness thing because everybody's win winning and some church will have an idea, they'll fund it, boom. We actually had that kind of happened this week. Someone had a really cool idea and it wasn't a really hard idea, but it was a really good idea.
And they actually came and said, well, we'll fund it and now everybody's gonna get it in 14.1 and super cool. Definitely. That is exactly the community at work. Very, very cool. Nick, it's great that you mentioned that the the content subscription is available on Apple TV.
Of course, we've had a content subscription every year for the conference. Right? But never has it been easier to watch. And that's the thing. The further away you get out from the event, the more you're , oh, those things I intended to watch may or may not happen and the likelihood might go down.
But it's so easy now to be able to pick that up right from home, sitting on a couch on a larger screen, not having that interfere with work and really being able to focus your mind on one thing. Yeah. So instead of watching garbage TV, because there's really not nothing good on, you could watch Rx. Yes. Other community members.
Or watch yourself on the big screen. Oh, your kids might that. Yeah. Maybe not. I don't know.
I don't know about that. So really cool. Very cool. So a lot going on around here. We have definitely not slowed down, But but let's talk about RX.
This is the this was twenty twenty two. We've had a lot happen in the last three years in terms of everything, but the event itself. And so this year, the event was a lot more back to what we had originally intended, but still not there. So, , let's let's just talk about what that looked . Yeah.
I mean, I think the RX is always encouraging. I think it's encouraging for everybody, but it's really encouraging for us because we get to see I mean, we're always working in the trench, but sometimes we don't get to hear as many stories about the impact of Rock. And I think it's just we say, it's a Super Bowl event that we get to celebrate everything that's been done. And I think it's also good for us too, because if we see how much impact we make every day or how much progress we make every day, sometimes it can feel a little disheartening because it feels every day we run and run and run and run, and it feels nothing happened. But then when you see it, what happens when you do that over a course of a year, it kind of blows you away.
when we're going through all those new features, , we're a little bit , woah, , look at all this stuff. this is pretty amazing. It's such a small team and such a small community. To me, it's a time where spiritually you get uplifted because it's yes, and that's because God was involved. If it if he wasn't involved that those numbers and those numbers of features wouldn't wouldn't be there.
And so, , I was just talking to someone just a few minutes ago and I said, sometimes you have to take all this in and you have to store it in your heart, but make sure it doesn't go to your head. Right? Because that's not where it belongs. But if you don't have if you don't fill your heart, you you will run out of water in your bucket. Cause the bucket, the water is gonna slosh out with your frustrations and micro things that happen.
So it's a good time to kind of refill your bucket and that you keep in your heart, not your head. And because again, if it goes to your head, that's where you have trouble because now you're taking the glory from God and putting it into your glory bucket. And as soon as you do that, I mean, the Bible's chuck full of those examples. As soon as you do that, that bucket will get turned upside down because that's, you're basically robbing the glory. And you're grazing with the animals in the wilderness.
So I'm so glad that from the very beginning that that concept of Togabi the glory was brought into the project and seriously not to put into even the page source because it's been a good reminder. Because even as I was developing even my part of the presentation, it changed rapidly over the course of the two months that goes into that. And it was near the end that it was , Hey, woah, woah, woah, one thing we're missing is we're not giving glory to the right place. And that I think was a moment that was , that's important. The way the whole thing started was completely redone.
We even had videos that we were gonna show instead of the ones that we, the intro that we did have, the intro countdown that was replaced out the last minute just to make sure that we left space to give God the glory. So I think Rx always encouraging. Yep. Great to see people. Although the one thing I don't is at the end, you're , Oh my gosh, I didn't have time.
I didn't see, or I saw them, but they were across the And you're , the last couple hours, I'm trying to figure out all the people I didn't get to see and say hi to, and I'm trying to find them. But then God brings new relationships, so new, you're just in the hallway and then you're talking to someone that because you bumped into them or in, I don't know. There's a lot of those that I wasn't expecting that were really encouraging and just fun, but I also feel somewhat depressed at the end. I didn't get to say hi or talk to all the people that I wanted to. That's almost impossible.
We had a great turnout this year and it was really fun to see, you said, across the hall, all the familiar faces and some incredible new friends that have joined us. But it would be almost impossible in two days to connect with everyone. With 500X number of people. Can you imagine? Yeah.
Well, and sometimes there's time that we have to spend I I was going around looking at how the space was being used at the conference because I'm already thinking about next year. Okay, what spaces might be available for some new ideas that we want to do? You kind of have to almost be looking at the next year lens, which is weird, but you have to in that moment, say what's going well? What could we use a space for? Is that space even being used?
Right. Because we won't have another time to come back and see it in action before the next event is live. Right. We definitely take every bit of information experience and run it through the process when we get back and say, what can we do better? What should we change?
The surveys that everyone's filled out, they've been read by many, many people, every single response and highly considered. And we're already having meetings and action items related to next year's event, which we're very excited about because we have great new kinds of things planned. But the feedback from the community is one, encouraging, you just mentioned. Super encouraging to our team. And and every little word that just goes a long way.
We store those up in our hearts and hang on to them. And then some really great ideas. One super simple idea that I heard from a couple people was just, hey. The evening activities are great with birds of a feather and the Rock star consults. Can we flip which night those are on so we're connecting with other church people in our roles earlier instead of later.
Well, that's a great idea. Mhmm. I don't know why no one thought of that before, but we can make that switch immediately for next year. So that kind of thing is just really helpful. Yeah.
And, , we always try to make it better each and every year. I think next year is, I'm hoping, I think we're actually gonna do it, is gonna be the first one that kind of fulfills the mission of what Rock Experience, RX, Rock Experience was really supposed to be. And if we can kind of pull off some of those ideas, which I'm feeling pretty confident in, it's gonna be really cool. The clock is ticking. Know.
Unfortunately, we don't get a full year. Nine months in fifteen days. That's It isn't fair. We are off to a running start, but we feel behind compared to other years already. I feel just from, , some personal feedback I got that I wanted to clarify on is Phoenix is the same temperature in July as is in August.
So that's correct. It's not gonna be hotter in July. In fact, it actually might be a little bit nicer. It's not quite as humid in July. It tends to be pretty dry.
So don't worry. The weather will be about the same. That's right. If you survived this year, you'll be just fine next year. And honestly, who had time to leave the hotel?
Were so many conversations in the lobby. I mean, most of us were up till at least 10:30 or midnight. Oh gosh, it was 01:00 almost. It was Monday morning through Wednesday evening were just a giant blur. At night, couldn't even talk.
I'd lose my voice every night. It's funny. But I do wanna also put a pin in the Tourism Bureau of Phoenix wanted to say that just realize you're coming at the worst time. , the weather right now is about to to change, and it'll be amazing for, , probably at least six more months, maybe seven months. So Phoenix is amazing.
You're seeing the worst of it in the tourism bureau wanting me to note that. To pass that along? Yeah. But you're seeing the worst of it because we're keeping your ticket prices where you want them to because hotel conferences are very expensive. Oh, that hotel is actually really expensive most of the year.
And it's Right. The rate we get is It's so much better. So cheap. And I heard they're renovating it after the Super Bowl. They are.
Are we gonna have increased costs? Increased costs? I don't know. We're getting ahead of that. So that's one of the reasons we picked July.
'1, we don't wanna be there was something they had said about we'll try to keep our renovation mostly out of your way or something after if we went after the time because they're closing the hotel down in September, and so it'd have to be in October. Okay. And so we had the option of going ahead of time and understanding our pricing or going after the fact, not understanding our pricing and having the entire conference, I don't know, dodging ladders and lifts. I'm not really sure. So we went with July.
So we feel we've made the best choice on that. Yeah. What about you, Nick? What was your highlight of the conference? Well, for sure, it's all the running around and getting to talk to people.
I would watch half of a session and then I'd run to another person's session that I wanted to watch. It was terrible in terms of trying to follow the content, but I wanted to have a chance to talk with people before and after. So that was my favorite part. Then hearing stories. So actually this is a reminder to those of you who said you were gonna give us your stories.
If you haven't already done that, please send your stories in. And isn't there a place now on the profile page community site to share your I give points for that. Van, I'm talking to you. Oh, that special call out on broadcast. And yeah, just hearing some of those stories.
I don't wanna share them until we have them officially, but. And the stories we're looking for specifically are Rock ministry stories. How is Rock enabling ministry at your church? We we know it happens, but for those stories to get to our ears, it's two steps removed. So intentional sharing is really the only way we hear them.
And plus too, go get those stories. Pastors are busy. They don't always think who else they need to tell a story to, but go get that story for yourself because you need to put that in your heart. And then once you've put that in your heart, share it. Yeah, share it with Do for you.
Because I tried to remember some of the details. I'm , oh, it was the pastor on the plane who saw the person and I have the gist of it in my heart, but I want all the real, , gritty details. So those are, I want to share those with all of us and everybody in the community, obviously. Sounds a weird movie. Was Pastor on a plane.
It's snakes on a plane. Used Rock to draw story. Just the call out. Come on. Hold out his phone and Nope.
Nope. Use the share your story link. Yeah. It's right. That's my favorite part.
And then being in pain for a week and a half afterwards with my back. Oh gosh. That's that's not fun. , the Get you a wheelchair next year. The number of people that came up to me and said, this conference is absolutely the best thing that happens to me all year.
, handfuls of people said something along those lines to me. And it was incredible because I I mean, I feel the same way. And it's really the energy when the community comes together is incredible. And and I think we do have to fill our buckets with it and use it as sort of our little extra supercharged blast when we need it later in the year. Oh, and seeing people grow, someone who gave their first presentation the year before, watching them their next year, it's so polished and they're so much more confident and that's super exciting.
And some people stepped into lightning round sessions this time as speakers that haven't spoken before. And they felt , oh, I can handle ten minutes. And it was a lot easier for them to step into a speaking capacity. And now they're that wasn't so bad. I could do a full session next year.
Well, I think those are good though, because sometimes you have something really good to say, but you don't have forty minutes of good. And some people do, but some people don't, they have that one thing. And I think I really that style that, you you can just share one nugget and you're good. It's a compressed TED Talk. You have ten minutes to tell us all the things.
Well, and I've always said I'd pay four times as much for a book that was four times smaller, a business book. Yes, yeah. And unfortunately in our culture, we're not we're, a business book must be 200 pages and then they can charge us $14 I'm not sure there's a publishing house that would agree with your philosophy. Well. Less is more.
Yeah. It might be more it might be cheaper for them. I mean, they the margin would be huge. Maybe they don't know that there's an audience that out there. Yeah.
Well, maybe it's work. We're still fighting. We can say it, but then when we go to the bookstore and it's a fourth size and it's four times more, I'm gonna be , what? What a rip off. Well, because you don't know it's that.
Know the level of my hypocrisy, okay? I'm aware. Self awareness, that's where it starts. I mean, looking forward to next year, hopefully everybody had a great time. We went through the feedback, learned a We did.
there's some really good feedback in there. I think there's some things that we can change, that are easy to change. There's some things that are little bit harder to change that we do have a lot of limitations. I would just kind of put a note, a pin in the head, a thought that food at a conference is really ridiculously expensive. And so we're trying to keep the ticket price down.
Can I give one example? Yeah. So when we were looking at a lot of options on the menu, they didn't all stick with me, but this was two years ago and the menu price increases every year. I remember scanning through one of the pages, and it said if you wanted lemonade, it would be $80 a gallon. Yeah.
Sugar water. For the record, , you're right. The way that the whole the way the whole scheme works is that all the space is free. Yes. Yeah.
And but you have to use this for the meals and you can't no. No. So, , the $80 lemonade is going to pay for the It pays for the space and the staff that serve it. But it's still on top of that. Well, and I haven't added, it's a plus plus.
Right. Right? So you have all sorts of other you have a 25% service charge and you have a 11% almost sales tax and you have It's kinda funny when you I don't know. Just depends on people. Everything's plus plus plus plus plus plus.
Right. The food was good. I mean, was good Yeah. Were That fun lunches. Were a couple of things.
Yeah. One of the lunches we were , that wasn't quite what we But dinners. Dinners were good. Yeah. Oh, Mexican food?
Wow. Mhmm. It was very good. , you guys are, , talk talking about how, , the staff really likes to work the conference. And Yeah.
I think you said that from the stage. Right? I don't remember. I said it afterward to our staff anyway. Oh, okay.
Well I'm not sure if I said it from the stage. Well, so kudos to you guys. , some of the feedback we get from the staff of the hotel is they love our conference because you guys are so nice and kind and you talk to them and you're nice and you say thank you. And so they were actually signing up as the staff to work because they saw the dates. Because we announced the dates, they're watching.
They went back and were trying to sign up for those dates serve at our conference you guys are so nice. And that is such an anomaly compared to who they're usually working with. Right. Because they're everyone's commenting that and what they're saying and doing, we know that's not normal. Wait for the Super Bowl, the contrast from the Super Bowl crowd to ours in July.
But what a testimony too because they know what we're talking about. Mhmm. They know. , they know we're talking about Jesus. And when the Jesus people are nice, that's Right.
That's pretty cool. That's what Jesus wants. Well, and one of the, administrators on the hotel end came in and started asking our event coordinator, what what is it you guys do? Wait a minute. So is it does it do this and does it do that?
She's , well, I gotta go talk to my church. Why aren't we using Rock? Yeah. Have a seat. , you can sit in this session.
You can learn. That's right. But what I was joking about was , well, make sure that the cook signs up. Whoever cooked out that second meal on that Mexican meal, make sure they signed up for that conference because that was really good. That was good.
I was wanting to take that home. There's some leftovers. I was , if I had time, I'd have been , Hey, can I get leftovers? I want my wife to taste this. Make my doggy bag.
Yeah. Kudos to the production team. And I know some of our staff is involved that got recordings done. it had to be record time to get the content We definitely changed our process around that this year. And I think that was good.
And we have a few ways we're intending to even get further ahead next year for that. So why wait? Right? We want it now. Well, but there's a lot of people as much as our that's our Super Bowl event, there's still 10 x who aren't Can't come.
Able to come to the conference. But that is a job you should be doing right now. You should be making sure that not only are you coming to the conference, how do you get more people coming from your organizations? And how do you encourage people in other organizations that you deal with, through chat or calls, tell them the importance of the community. I was just communicating with somebody yesterday and they didn't have the chance to come to the conference.
I'm , I wish you could have seen the community. , I can't explain it. It is inexplicable. Mhmm. You have to see it.
I was talking to a church about a week before the conference and they said, well, we just wanna talk to somebody to understand a little more about Rock. And we're considering Rock, and we're considering this other platform, and, , we're really not sure. So could you tell us about it? And I was , well, I could, but I cannot do the justice that that seeing the community in action will do. So promise you don't wanna hear me talk.
What you wanna do is buy a plane ticket and a conference ticket and get out here next week. And they showed up with a team of seven. Oh, wow. I met with that eighth church. So very cool.
And they came away from the conference, , with their minds absolutely blown with the things that you are doing inside Rock to power ministry. So you're taking the tools, you're taking the ministry concepts, and you're doing really cool things. And that's what's interesting and attractive to to other churches. Yeah. And I think that's interesting to think about because I think there are other products that their churches by no means can do what they can in Rock.
that's the truth. But even if they were there, there's no opportunity to share that. So even if someone has this nugget of oh, do this, there's no outlet or there's limited outlets. So there are some products that do have conferences, it's nothing what our community does and what our community shows up with. It's just, yeah.
If we had to get rid of the product or the community, we get rid of the product because we could rebuild the product from the community, but we couldn't rebuild the community from the product. Yeah. Definitely true. Oh, how can we forget about the kickoff event this year? Oh, that was really good.
That was fun. , we're always a little nervous. We have this idea, we're going to do this, but people are going to It was really cool to see how many people are walking around just talking, having fun, playing games. It almost felt an official third day. It was so good.
Who would miss that next year if it's gonna be at least that good? Yeah. It was so cool to see everybody just hanging around having fun. It was. The food turned out good there as well.
I was really full, so I didn't have much. You didn't have much? Yeah. Heard good things about that too. You always, , you're looking at menus, posted menus, and you're , I hope this tastes okay.
Because there's a wide range of what something might taste . I had two strawberry shortcakes. Did you? Yeah. Was so good.
Is that why I didn't have You had you must so many. There were three more my favorite. I was busy talking to people, and I never got around to Just kidding. It was good. But even, the the game tournaments, was I I guess in my head, I was picturing, oh, Pac Man.
So that's gonna be this old retro Pac Man. Oh, that'd be pretty fun. And then we go and show up and it's It's the biggest Pac Pac So I was , that's so cool. That's awesome. And then who knew how good that the game some of you guys are .
Yeah. That's what I was gonna say. We got some real winners out there. You're skilled at Rock and you're skilled at video games. It was quite fierce, the competition between you guys.
That was a fun time. So I think that that sounded and from the survey responses we received, that seems a real win. Yeah. And that was just the kickoff, , party but during the day. Yeah.
We also did best practices workshops for the first time this year, and that was something that we had never introduced before. It was at community request from surveys previously, and there was a lot of work to put that together, but there was definitely a lot of good feedback from it too. Wouldn't we do it again? Yeah. I think it's planned for next year.
I think it is. My only thing We just have to get ahead of the content. It's quite a bit of It was very overwhelming to to get all that content put together because we were trying to do something a little different too, to make it a little bit more technical and to make that that content, that pre day was all, no matter who did it, it had to be pre reviewed to make sure that it was best practice. And that was top notch. Now, some of it was Amber Smart who did the Tableau I was looking through our slides.
I was , this is so good. But it's hard to get to that review in because we wanna make sure that that has the spark seal approval kind of content. Right. Because that's what was requested. More technical, but we wanna make sure it's spark sealed approval and to go through all that and with the rigor.
And honestly, are a lot of slots still left open. And so there was some plugging in those gaps that we tried to get people to It did work. It worked great, but it was A lot of work. Yeah. Yep.
So that was a fun one. We did have a lot of great responses to that, and it was totally new. You never know what's going to be new, what might show up again at a different Rx. And also not recorded. It was just kind of the more informal but technical, right?
I don't think they were That's correct. The other thing in addition to, John, you mentioned the costs associated with food at the conference, which is wild. The costs also associated with the production and the recording and then all the elements required for postproduction and posting, , that's a very expensive thing to do. We did recommend to all the presenters for the best practices workshops that they record and post those out on their own platforms and use their interest lists, which we have the QR codes for the sponsors, that they use their interest lists to push that out. Yeah.
And I think that's something to keep in mind as we get feedback, or as you give feedback, should say, just realize that feedback comes with a cost. There's always a cost to it, right? Right. And so we're trying to manage to make sure that we can keep the conference rates as low as possible and maximize what we're able to deliver. In the past RX has been a fundraising tool for Spark and it's not that much as much anymore because of the hotel and the, but it And if you looked at person hours compared to that too, not fundraiser.
Yeah. It is a service. Yeah. It was good to hear though the feedback about the space too that someone had given me feedback that this was their second year in that Renaissance space, this space is just right. Oh, that's You couldn't do this at a church because that's what we tried to do but it just doesn't have the same capabilities at this facility because it's purpose built for what we do.
And the hangout at night and the Oh, that's great. It's just, yeah. Oh, and that is Here's the PSA. First of all, get your ticket at the lowest price for RX, but also get your room reserved. Reserved.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We even ran into some trouble on ours that we had to leave We had to give our slots away. Yeah.
And then we had to leave. It's okay. Just leave at 01:00 instead of driving to your room or walking to your room, drive home. Which isn't too bad for our So anyways, that was a lot. I think we could keep going for probably another two hours, but probably shouldn't.
Probably fair. I would say though, you said, get going on Rx for 2023 and get that booked, get as many people there. Because imagine if we doubled it in the size. I know we're not going do that next year, but just picture if that happened, how much more community and just the energy. Man, that'd be cool.
Yeah, so book your team because it will be more powerful when you're not trying to go back and re communicate the vision. Let your communication person be there, some It'll be more powerful. And think about your content. What are you going to present next year? Right.
That's a great point, Nick. And think about it, not just what, but think about quality, right? So it's very important that everyone who presents puts the time into it. This isn't a last minute thing. It takes a while.
You get your idea. You craft it for a while in your head. You, share an outline with us, and you, , you kinda work through that. And, we did take a lot more consideration into speaking slots this year, and we heard from people , oh, the sessions lasted longer. They seem to have more content associated with them.
And we worked with speakers, and we have some ideas of ways we can help speakers even more going forward. So it's definitely something that you're really supported in. And our speaker surveys said that as well. We really help support speakers to get them to that stage. And that's a really cool step.
Yeah. I was talking to someone just today and they asked how was the conference? They're not a part of our community, but they knew about the conference because they have a relationship with us. I said, Oh, is that great? And I was giving all the things and I said, Yeah, 65 people in our community did a session.
And they're , What? 65? And I'm , Yeah, there's multiple tracks, and they were just blown away. They're , Are you kidding me? I guess he was thinking that there'd be 12.
It is incredible. Yeah. It's awesome. Right, and I think it's easy for us in the community to take that for granted because that's kind of the way it's always been. But every year, you said, Emily, everybody's leveling up and we're trying to help them level up and be more intentional about supporting them and putting new dates and outline reviews and stuff that so that we can raise the bar.
Every year the community just raises the bar. Yep. That's true. And every year we have a couple potential speakers reach out and say, hey, I really wanna up my game this year. What can you help me do?
And we we give them some really fun assignments too. Give them different topics to look at or, interesting things to do and that most of them look back on that with fondness. So look at the way that you want to step up this year. Consider what you can present on because everybody has something to share. That's the awesome part of our community.
Yeah. And if you did speak and if you found it hard to speak, one thing I would say to do, because I try to tell myself to do this, but then in all integrity, I don't, I should. Afterwards, right now, write yourself a letter to yourself that's saying, Hey, just remember, wasn't as hard as you thought it was. And when you left the stage, you actually felt really good and it went well better than you thought. Cause you're going to need to read that right before next year.
Yeah, remember , cause I sometimes I'm , know, you, you need to remember next year, this isn't as bad as you keep selling it up to be. And I don't know, maybe it's just me and I'm crazy, but I always forget that, future John forgets. Yep. What past John thought. Wow.
Well, we definitely could continue talking forever, but we probably should wrap it up because we have another conference to plan. So we will get on that. If you have other ideas you haven't sent our way yet, please do so. We definitely read and take acknowledgment of all of that, and we are very excited for next event, which is less than a year away. We'll see you there.
And don't forget to reserve your spot. The trend lines say more people will be there next year, and the and the hotel cannot hold them all overnight. So there's your PSA. Go book all your stuff, and we will talk to you again next time. Do a church that loves the idea of using Rock but hasn't taken that leap yet?
