Let's define all the attributes for our workflow. The attributes for the position request workflow are pictured below. Make note of the different field types for these attributes, as this workflow uses several of them.

Attributes are the workflow's memory. Each one holds a piece of information, such as who asked, what they asked for and what the approver decided, so every activity that follows can use it. Here is what each attribute in the position request workflow holds.
