For the Assessment activity type, you'll see a form for adding items such as a Multiple Choice question, a Section separator, or a Short Answer item.

You can add as many items as you need. With the Multiple Choice type of question, you can supply the correct answer so the assessment can be graded automatically. However, adding a Short Answer type will require a Facilitator to score each participant's answers.

Assessment Settings

Multiple Choice Weight - Sets the percentage of the activity's total points that all multiple-choice questions share.

Show Results on Completion - Gives students their score the moment they submit. Leave this on for self-paced training where immediate feedback keeps momentum.

Show Missed Questions On Results - Reveals each missed multiple-choice question alongside the correct answer. Pair it with Show Results on Completion when the assessment is a teaching tool rather than a gate.

Assessment Items

Add Item - Adds a new item to the assessment.

Type - Determines what kind of item you are adding. The three options behave differently at grading time.

Item Types

Multiple Choice - Offers a single correct answer you define up front. Rock grades these automatically, so no facilitator time is needed.

Section - Introduces the items beneath it with a heading. Use it to break a long assessment into readable chunks.

Short Answer - Collects a written response worth a percentage of the total points. These always require a facilitator to grade.

Item Options

Help Text - Adds an information popup next to the question. Use it for clarifying instructions that would clutter the question itself.

Question Weight - Assigns the share of total points this question carries. Multiple-choice and Short Answer weights must total 100%.

Retake Threshold

Set a Retake Threshold beside Points on the activity to give students another attempt when they score below it. An assessment built entirely from Multiple Choice items assigns the retake automatically and shows the student a message right away; add a Short Answer item and the facilitator decides while grading instead.
