Content Channels hold some of your most precious content. Maybe it's a blog post, maybe it's a list of group studies, maybe it's a job opening. Whatever fills yours, the next question is always the same: is anyone reading it? Content Channel Item Metrics answers that one item at a time, showing how many views it drew, how many of those views came from people you can name, and how they found it.

Find the Metrics for an Item

Metrics live with the item itself. Go to Admin Tools > Settings > Content Channels, open a channel, then select the ti ti-chart-line chart icon in the column beside the item you want to look at.

Turn On View Tracking

These numbers come from Rock's interaction tracking, which stays off until you ask for it. Open the Content Channel View Block that displays the item, expand its Visitor Settings panel and switch tracking on there. The Content Channel View Block article covers that block in full. Its mobile counterpart carries the same settings, so turn them on wherever people read your content.

The Interactions group holds two checkboxes.

Log Item Interaction - Creates an interaction record each time someone views the item. This is the switch that feeds every number on the metrics page, so turn it on first.

Write Interaction Only If Individual Logged In - Narrows tracking to visitors Rock can identify. Leave it clear for most content: anonymous visits still count toward Total Views and Unique Views, and losing them understates how much traction a post got.

Save the block, then give the item time to receive traffic before you check the metrics page.

Read the Overview

The report opens on the Overview. A slicer named for the item switches between Overview and Viewer Details, and labels beside the panel title remind you which content channel the item belongs to and where it stands in approval.

Date Range - Sets the window every number and chart on the page reports on. It starts at Last 7 Days, and Rock remembers your choice the next time you open the page.

Three tiles carry the headline numbers, each measured against the previous period of the same length. When there's no earlier period to compare against, the tile reads No Previous Period instead of a percentage.

Total Views - Counts every view logged in the range, repeat visits included.

Unique Views - Counts distinct browsing sessions rather than raw views. The same person returning on a different day or a different device counts again.

Known People - Counts the distinct individuals Rock could identify. Anonymous visits stay out of this number, even when the visitor is someone in your database who wasn't signed in.

Four visuals then break the same period down.

Views Over Time - Plots views day by day, which is where you'll see the spike after an email went out and the long tail that followed it.

Device Breakdown - Splits views across Desktop, Mobile and Tablet, gathering anything Rock can't identify into Unknown. Bars run from most views to fewest, and Unknown always sits last.

Connection Status Breakdown - Counts people instead of views, grouped by connection status, so you can tell whether a post is reaching guests or mostly members. Anyone without a status, or whose status has since been removed, lands in No Status.

Top Known Referrers - Names the sites that sent traffic to the item. Five show at a time, with the rest behind a Show More toggle.

UTM Breakdown

When you promote an item with tagged links, the UTM card shows which of those tags brought people in. A picker in the card header moves between Sources, Mediums, Campaigns, Terms and Content. Sources is the tag most churches use, so it leads whenever it's turned on.

Most items will have nothing here, and that's expected. UTM tags are a deliberate choice you make when you build a promotional link, not something Rock adds on its own. See Advanced Short Links for more on UTM tags.

See Who Viewed It

Switch the slicer to Viewer Details for the named list behind the Known People number. Each row is one person, with their campus, how many times they viewed the item and when they last did. These are Person records, so the usual grid actions come along: send a communication to the list, launch a workflow or export it.

Select the ti ti-adjustments-horizontal icon in the grid header to narrow the list.

Date Range - Shares one window with the Overview, so the two views never disagree. Change it here and the Overview follows.

Campus - Keeps only the people whose primary campus matches.

Connection Status - Keeps only the people who hold the status you choose.

Original Source - Keeps only the people who reached the item through a particular UTM source at least once during the range.

Block Settings

To open these settings, select the ti ti-settings icon on the Content Channel Item Metrics block.

UTM Metrics to Show - Chooses which UTM dimensions the card offers: Sources, Mediums, Campaigns, Terms and Content. Leave it empty and all five stay available. Most churches tag only a source and a medium, so picking just those keeps the card focused on the tags your team actually uses.
