Core Docs - Core Concepts - Configure Checkr
Rock Version: v20.0

Checkr is Rock's built-in provider for running background checks on individuals. A new Rock installation already uses Checkr as its default provider. If your organization used the original Protect My Ministry integration, which Rock no longer includes, you'll make Checkr the default in Step 3. To keep using Protect My Ministry, see Configure Protect My Ministry. First, though, let's look at the steps to set up your Checkr account.
Step 1: Sign-up
The first step in the process is to sign up for a Checkr account. You'll start from your rockrms.com account.
Step 2: Set Up Webhook Inside Checkr
The next step is to set up a webhook inside Checkr. This tells Checkr where to send updates when background checks are complete. Begin by logging into your Checkr account at dashboard.checkr.com, then navigate to:
Account Settings > Developer Settings.
Type your Rock URL appended with /webhooks/checkr.ashx in the Webhooks URL field, select Live, then click Add. Finish by selecting these subscriptions: Invitation Created, Invitation Completed, Invitation Expired, Report Created and Report Completed.
If background checks are successfully submitted to Checkr but results are not returned, Checkr may need to enable account-level webhooks on your account in order for everything to work correctly. You'll want to make a request to Checkr support to enable them in this case.
Step 3: Configuration
Now that Checkr is active, it's time to link your account to Rock. From within Rock, access the Checkr screen located at:
Admin Tools > Settings > Checkr
Enter your Checkr Access Token (from the Rock RMS website) into the field provided. Click Save. If Checkr is already your default provider, Rock downloads the Background Check Types list automatically. To download an updated Background Check Types list later, click the Update Packages button, which is available when Checkr is the default provider.
If Checkr isn't your default provider yet, an Enable As Default button appears at the top of the Checkr Settings panel after you save the token. Select it to make Checkr your default provider. Rock then deactivates your existing Background Check Types, including any from Protect My Ministry, and turns on the types from your Checkr account.
Once Checkr is your default provider, you can confirm its status in Admin Tools > Settings > Background Check Providers.
The Access Token should already be filled in for you at this point, since you provided it on the Checkr configuration page. Pictured below, you can see the Background Check Types list and the Update Packages button mentioned above.
Viewing Checkr Requests
You can view all the requests that Checkr has processed in the Checkr page. This list is provided to help you see what's being processed at a high level. As you'll see soon, you can also view the results of a specific background check request from the Workflow and Person Profile pages.
