Blog - Gmail Spam Requirements
Published: Jan 24, 2024
As you may have heard, Google shared an
article
about new Gmail spam requirements that they plan to enforce starting on February 1, 2024.
Going forward, bulk senders (those sending 5,000 or more messages per day) will be
required to:
- Authenticate their email
- Enable easy unsubscribe
- Ensure they're sending wanted email
Authenticate Your Email
What you'll need to do:
Set up SPF and DKIM email authentication for your domain.
Enable Easy Unsubscribe
What you'll need to do:
After updating to v16.3 (coming soon), emails sent by Rock will allow email clients like Gmail to show a native
Unsubscribe button, making it easier to unsubscribe from communications and communication lists. This feature will be
enabled by default but can be turned off with the new Email Medium setting in Rock, Enable One-Click Unsubscribe.
Gmail and other email clients may have additional requirements before showing the Unsubscribe button. According
to a Google Support forum, "Gmail doesn't show the Unsubscribe button until it has assessed your domain and
decided that you are reliable."
Ensure You're Sending Wanted Email
What you'll need to do:
Nothing. According to Google, "Gmail will enforce a clear spam rate threshold that senders must stay under to ensure
Gmail recipients aren't bombarded with unwanted messages." Rock can send a communication to a manual collection of
recipients or recipients on a communication list. Unsubscribing from communication lists and mass email is now easier
with emails sent from Rock.

system and for tips on how to avoid your messages ending up in spam or being blocked by Gmail.
