Blog - Ending Support for Redis Caching Backplane
Published: Aug 22, 2023
If your Rock instance does not use Redis, then you can skip this article.
As stated before, maintaining old code is a costly endeavor. So, starting with Rock v17, we're removing
support for the original Redis backplane.
Originally, Redis was used by some very large churches to maintain
a cache of data across multiple Rock instances. However, with the introduction of the
Rock Web Farm
and a message bus in v12, Rock's internal cache was able to be synchronized across all the nodes in a Rock server farm.
If you would like more information about Rock's Web Farm feature, see our
Hyper Scaling Rock
guide.
